21 Feb, 2023 Jaime Toby
Lakewood Ranch, FL.( WorkersCompensation, com) – WorkCompCollege.com, a division of Workers' Compensation Educational Services, announces ODG by MCG, an MCG Health company, has signed an agreement to be a Bronze Associate Partner. Through this partnership, ODG will help support ongoing education activities for the workers’ compensation ecosystem.
ODG by MCG is the most widely used evidence-based, medical treatment and return-to-work solution for managing workers’ compensation, disability, and auto liability claim outcomes. ODG is currently used in all 50 U.S. states and has been officially adopted by workers’ compensation departments in 11 of those state governments. In addition, six of the Top 10 states with the lowest workers’ compensation costs use the ODG platform to manage recovery for on-the-job injuries. As part of this new partnership, six ODG by MCG employees will have the opportunity to participate in the Workers’ Recovery Professional (WRP) certification program.
“ODG is excited to partner with WorkCompCollege.com to promote evidence-based learning opportunities for workers’ compensation professionals,” said ODG Managing Director, Phil LeFevre. He added, “Together, I believe our organizations can prepare the claims management and clinical experts of tomorrow with effective tools that drive the most optimal outcomes for injured workers.”
Robert H. Wilson, President of Workers’ Compensation Educational Services, LLC, the parent company of WorkCompCollege.com, said, “ODG has set a new standard for evidence-based medicine, and is having a dramatic impact on treatment and outcomes where their services are utilized. It is a program that is very much aligned with our own paradigm-shifting education platform, in that it realigns the focus of care and compassion to where it means the most. We are honored to have their enthusiasm and support.”
Leaders in the workers’ compensation industry have long been calling for better ways to manage claims and improve outcomes for injured employees. Different names and phrases have been used to define this idea – workers’ recovery, advocacy-based claims management, bio-psychosocial adoption, whole-person care – but all center around the same critical realization: Treating the entire person. The key to this approach is developing an understanding of the injured employee’s psychology and thought process, and employing clear, concise, and consistent communication methods. This process is regarded as a better way to improve clinical outcomes while reducing friction and cost and restoring humanity to the process is considered a win-win for all stakeholders.
For over a decade, there has been growing recognition of the need for change in the way injuries and illnesses that are the result of an occupational incident are managed. Cocooned in a highly regulated environment and driven by economic pressures, the workers’ compensation system (in many ways) has evolved into one that is process-driven, where the humanity of the people served is not often given proper consideration. This contributes to expensive litigation and unnecessary delays that cause stakeholder satisfaction to lack, along with situations that are needlessly expensive and often produce inferior results.
WorkCompCollege.com is a community-driven effort designed to address that situation and will help continue the trend toward lower costs and improved results through education, information exchange, and mentorship.
With the completion of the core WRP Certification program, the company’s efforts have been directed to the development of an advanced training and education center that will include state-specific modules, an Alumni Association, and special live events.
