WCRI Hosts Webinar on Long COVID-19 Initiative at Brown University School of Public Health

Cambridge, MA (WorkersCompensation.com) - The Workers Compensation Research Institute (WCRI) will hold a free 45-minute webinar on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at 2 p.m. ET to discuss Brown University School of Public Health's Long COVID Initiative. Representing the school will be Dr. Francesca L. Beaudoin, interim chair and associate professor of epidemiology.

“Recently, President Biden ordered a new national research push on long COVID-19, while also directing federal agencies to support patients dealing with the mysterious and debilitating condition. Given so much is still unknown about long COVID-19, we have invited Dr. Francesca Beaudoin to join us to learn more about it and their long COVID-19 initiative,” said Ramona Tanabe, WCRI counsel and executive vice president.”

Long COVID-19, a new condition that can affect people’s ability to work and carry on with regular life, affects millions of people around the world but remains poorly understood. To meet the challenges brought on by this emerging syndrome, the Brown University School of Public Health has launched a long COVID-19 initiative that will bring together researchers, clinicians, and experts in policy as well as strategic communications, to rapidly study and communicate the significant impact of long COVID-19 on people, communities, workplaces, health care, and society as a whole.

Questions addressed:

  • Of those who contracted COVID-19, how many will develop long-term symptoms?
  • What are the symptoms and treatment for long COVID-19?
  • What are the social and economic impacts of long COVID-19?
  • How can employers support those who have it?
  • What knowledge/research gaps exist for long COVID-19?
