Tower MSA Partners’ Chief Compliance Officer Dan Anders, COO Kristine Dudley, and Executive VP of Strategic Services Hany Abdelsayed Discuss MSP Compliance at WCI
Orlando, Fla. (August 8, 2022) — Tower MSA Partners will be participating as moderators and panelists for the Medicare Secondary Payer Compliance track at the upcoming WCI Conference in Orlando.
The CMS Townhall session on August 23 at 1 p.m. launches Day One of WCI’s MSP Compliance track. The panelists are CMS’s Division of Medicare Secondary Payer Operations Division Director Steve Forry, Deputy Director Jackie Cipa, and Health Insurance Specialist John W. Jenkins, Jr. Via video they will discuss CMS’s role, give updates on MSP programs and answer questions about Section 111 reporting, conditional payments, and Medicare Set-Aside review. Tower MSA Partners Chief Compliance Officer Dan Anders will moderate.
The MSP Compliance track continues at 2 p.m. with “CMS Throws the Penalty Flag!” Hany Abdelsayed, Tower’s Executive Vice President of Strategy, moderates the session, which focuses on preparing for Section 111 Mandatory Insurer Reporting penalties. Denise Ferencak, Claims Manager, Walt Disney World Resort; Susan Montoya, RN, Managing Director, Medicare & Debt Resolution for Travelers; and Anders will explain steps payers to take immediately to remain compliant with Section 111 Reporting requirements to avoid penalties.
At 3:15 p.m., “CMS Actions Heat Up MSA Submit vs. Non-Submit Debate” features Ametros’ Vice President of Strategy John Kane, American Airlines Manager of Workers’ Compensation Bryan Conner, and Hope Remetta, Catastrophic Resolution Manager with Berkley Industrial Comp. Kristine Dudley, Tower’s Chief Operating Officer, will moderate this timely session.
“When CMS updated its reference guide to say the agency considers non-submit MSAs ‘as a potential attempt to shift the financial burden to Medicare,’ many payers decided to rethink their MSA submission policies,” Dudley said. “Panelists will present data on post-settlement denials and discuss a flowchart approach to determine the best paths to take with settlements that involve MSAs.”
WCI’s Annual Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference runs from August 21-24 at the Orlando World Center Marriott. Details are available at Conference General Information | WCI Annual Conference (wci360.com)
