Melissa Steger Joins WorkCompCollege.com as Executive VP of Business Development

Lakewood Ranch, FL – February 19, 2025 – WorkCompCollege.com is pleased to announce that Melissa Steger is joining the company as a business partner and Executive Vice President of Business Development. She has been an integral part of WorkCompCollege.com since its inception, serving on the Board of Trustees and Dean for the School of Humanities, while also being a member of the faculty. With her extensive experience in workers’ compensation and risk management, Melissa will play a pivotal role in advancing WorkCompCollege.com’s mission to provide top-tier education and training for industry professionals.
Melissa brings a wealth of expertise from her tenure as the Associate Director of Workers’ Compensation and Unemployment Insurance for The University of Texas System (UT System). In this role, she was responsible for administering the self-insured workers’ compensation program providing coverage for over 140K employees of the UT System’s academic and health institutions. This comprehensive program includes a certified workers’ compensation healthcare network and claims handling through a third-party administrator, with oversight managed by the UT System. Additionally, she led the administration of the self-insured unemployment compensation insurance fund.
Melissa’s career spans the public, private, and regulatory sectors of the workers’ compensation insurance industry, providing her with a well-rounded perspective on the complexities of risk management. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master of Public Administration. Additionally, she has earned the Certified Risk Manager (CRM) designation from the National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research. She is the current owner of Melissa Steger Enterprises offering management and program development training and consulting from the perspective of horse ownership experience.
A recognized leader in the industry, Melissa served as the 2021-2022 President of National PRIMA and held two terms on the Texas PRIMA Board of Directors.
