Columbus,OH(WorkersCompensation.com) - Nationwide has named Julie Hespe as the head of Underwriting Performance for the company’s Excess & Surplus/Specialty team. Julie’s team, the Underwriting & Product Performance Center of Excellence, will focus on portfolio profitability, underwriting governance and best practices, product management strategy, regulatory compliance and performance.
“Julie’s experience, strong technical skills and analytic mindset make her a perfect match for the role,” said Russ Johnston, President, Excess & Surplus/Specialty. “Bringing together these capabilities under a single leader will enable us to drive profitability in a consistent fashion while also preserving the authority of our product areas to execute their strategies in the market.”
Julie comes to Nationwide with more than 30 years of experience as a commercial insurance leader. Her background includes senior leadership roles in AIG Environmental, AIG’s Specialty Workers Compensation Business, QBE’s Programs division and leading technical underwriting for an MGA, BlueSkyRisk. She most recently served as senior vice president of QBE WC Programs and Arrowhead Core Commercial divisions.
