Dollar General Employee Assaulted, One of Several Employees Attacked Recently

Nashville, TN (WorkersCompensation.com) – Police in Nashville are looking for two men they think assaulted a Dollar General employee.
The Metro Nashville Police Department said on Aug. 28 they were looking for two men captured on surveillance video who enter the Dollar General store on Dickerson Pike in Nashville. Video showed one of the suspects entering the store and asking the employee to put $400 on a gift card. When the employee refused because they felt the transaction was suspicious, the suspect went behind the counter and attacked the employee.
Officials said the suspect fled the scene but returned later with a second suspect who also punched the employee. The two suspects left in a car with a Texas tag.
The Dollar General employee was one of several employees attacked in the past month.
In San Diego, a man was arrested for attacking a store employee on August 27.
Police in San Diego said a man who had been kicked out of a market near Petco Park, was arrested for later stabbing an employee in the hand.
Police said Juan Flores-Puga, 37, was told to leave a store in the 1200 block of Imperial Avenue for being unruly and apparently intoxicated.
The suspect reacted by pulling a knife and attacking a 41-year-old employee. Police said transit security personnel detained the suspect. Paramedics took the employee to a hospital for treatment of a stab wound to his left hand. Officers booked the suspect into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
In California, a liquor store worker pulled a gun on a mob of bicyclists after they attacked him.
Police in Oakland said a group of bicyclists surrounded the Golden Hours Liquor store. The unnamed employee was standing outside the store and confronted the more than two dozen bicyclists. When the worker attempted to get into the face of one of the bikers who was taunting the worker with a punching motion.
As the biker and the employee confronted one another, another biker wearing a balaclava rushed up behind the worker and punched them in the side of the neck and in the head. Other bikers followed suit. The bikers’ turned into a melee at which point the worker pulled a gun on them.
When the worker pulled the gun, the bikers retreated. The worker then positioned himself with his back to the store’s wall, then chased the remaining bikers on foot.
Police said there was no report of injury, and no arrests were made.
In Oklahoma, family members have started a GoFundMe account for an employee who was attacked by a customer with a baseball bat.
According to police in Owasso, Okla., a man walked into the Captain D’s restaurant and attacked a female employee with the bat. The man then fled the scene but was arrested shortly afterward. Nicholas Deleen Palmore, 30, a former employee of the restaurant, is suspected in the assault.
Kellie Romine Wheeler, the GoFundMe organizer, said the employee Tiffany Romine will need to go through multiple surgeries as she recovers.
“Tiffany has been in ICU since (August 8),” she wrote on the GoFundMe page. “He beat her so severely with a bat she had to have 25 percent of her skull removed… Most of the bones in her face are broken and she will need reconstructive surgery for that next week. He also broke her arm with the bat.”
As of Friday, the page had raised more than $41,000 for Romine’s recovery.
In Philadelphia, police are looking for three men who attacked an employee during an armed robbery.
Just before 10 p.m. on August 18, police responded to the Emporio Latino Grocery store in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia. Police said three employees were leaving the business through the back door when they were approached by three men with guns. The attackers then forced the employees back into the house. One of the suspects then assaulted the employee. Suspects stole the victims cellphones and what police called a substantial amount of money. The victims, all women between 35 and 45 years old, later recovered their phones down the street.
Police did not say the assault resulted in any substantial injuries.
And in Chicago, a woman was arrested for attacking employees at O’Hare International Airport.
Police said on July 30, a 31-year-old woman started an argument with two other women working at the airport. Witnesses said the woman had missed her flight and attacked the women when they didn’t allow her to board the airplane.
According to video of the incident, the woman also climbed over a baggage conveyor belt and into the staff area before grabbing and yelling at the Frontier employee. After other employees pushed the woman back, the attacker grabbed the computer monitor off of a check-in desk and threw it toward the staff, hitting one of them, then grabbing a second monitor and throwing it onto the floor. The woman then climbed back over the conveyor belts while shouting “Stupid!” and the Frontier staff.
