Helping Others At The ABA Mid-Winter Workers' Compensation Conference In New Orleans

The American Bar Association encourages members to support the communities in which they live and work.  In an effort to help the New Orleans community, in which we are meeting for the Workers' Compensation Mid-Winter Conference in 2022, the charitable events subcommittee of the planning committee has identified a worthy charity that we ask you to support:  Hotel Hope.

Hotel Hope is a 501(c)(3) organization that strives to get mothers and their children into safe living conditions, and which works to bring families from homelessness to self-sufficiency.  Hotel Hope needs our assistance in providing items to help struggling families.  Hotel Hope has provided a list of items that would be easy to transport however you plan to reach New Orleans.  The items suggested include gift cards (Walmart, Visa, Target), toothbrushes (for children and adults), any toiletries (including toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo), undergarments for women and children, socks for women and children, children's pajamas for all ages, kitchen utensils such as serving spoons, ladles, measuring spoons and things of that ilk, and slippers for adult women.  Hotel Hope has an Amazon wish list on their website from which you may order items to be delivered directly.  The website is hotelhope.org. Of course, Hotel Hope would be thrilled to receive donations in lieu of items.  If you wish to donate, please bring a check payable to Hotel Hope. Hotel Hope advises that tax donation receipts can be provided.

In addition to the collection drive for Hotel Hope, the planning committee will be selling t-shirts to raise money for Kids' Chance.  The t-shirts will commemorate the Covid canceled 2020 Workers' Compensation Conference in New Orleans as well as Kids' Chance.  Please consider buying t-shirts for yourself and your loved ones.  It supports a great cause that unites all aspects of the workers' compensation community.  The funds raised will be divided between Kids' Chance of Louisiana, which is assisting with the effort, and Kids' Chance of America so that all Kids' Chance organizations across the country will benefit from your generosity.
