Glossary Check: Fla. Injuries that Qualify as Grievous Bodily Harm of Nature that Shocks Conscience

Tallahassee, FL (WorkersCompensation.com) -- In some states, including Florida, employment-related posttraumatic stress disorder for first responders and correctional officers is compensable.
In the Sunshine State, for purposes of such compensability, the injuries to which a first responder or correctional officer must be exposed to are injuries that qualify as "grievous bodily harm of a nature that shocks the conscience."
Here is what that term means in Florida:
- Decapitation (full or partial)
- Degloving
- Enucleation
- Evisceration
- Exposure of one or more of the following internal organs:
- Brain
- Heart
- Intestines
- Kidneys
- Liver
- Lungs
- Impalement
- Severance (full or partial)
- Third dgree burn on 9 percent or more of the body
