Workers’ Compensation Judge Shanon Riley Reappointed

Albuquerque,NM ( WorkersCompensation.com)  – New Mexico Workers’ Compensation Administration (WCA) Director Robert E. Doucette, Jr., announced the reappointment of Shanon S. Riley to serve a new five-year term as a workers’ compensation judge, effective August 20, 2022

. “I appreciate Judge Riley and the work she has done over her tenure at the WCA,” said Doucette. “During her time as WCA Judge, she has clearly earned the respect of those in the workers’ compensation community who appear and argue their cases in front of her. I am pleased to reappoint her to a new term and I know she will continue to serve the WCA and the public very well into the future.” 

By law, workers’ compensation judges are appointed for an initial one-year term, which may then be followed by subsequent five-year appointments. Judge Riley was initially appointed on August 20, 2011.

Judge Riley practiced law in New Mexico for 10 years prior to joining the WCA. At the time of her appointment, she had been serving as assistant district attorney in the 1st Judicial District in Santa Fe. She had previously spent three years as the general counsel for the New Mexico Department of Military Affairs. Riley also worked as an analyst for the New Mexico House Judiciary Committee; as an associate attorney with a private law firm; and as an associate trial attorney for the 2nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice in 1993 and a Juris Doctorate degree in 2001, both from the University of New Mexico. -
