Judge Baker is Reappointed

Abbie Hudgens, Administrator of the Tennessee Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, has announced that she recently reappointed Judge Joshua Davis Baker to the Court of Workers’ Compensation Claims. Judge Baker sits in Nashville. This will be his second full term.

“Judge Baker has played a pivotal role in the Court of Workers’ Compensation Claims since his contributions to the process of converting proposals into legislation in 2012 and 2013. As one of the first judges, he played a role in the ensuring that the legislative intent was fulfilled,” Hudgens said.

She continued, “He has made a significant contribution toward the Court gaining the excellent reputation it has. I received frequent comments in responses to a request for feedback about Judge Baker’s reappointment in this blog that he was impartial to all parties, knowledgeable of Tennessee’s workers’ compensation law, and respectful of everyone in the courtroom. These are the attributes that the Court is now known for and are the foundation for a fair system.”

Under Workers’ Compensation Law, a judge is appointed by the Administrator for up to three full terms of six years each. Judge Baker’s first term was for two years and does not count as a full term. Terms begin on July 1 and expire six years later, so this will be Judge Baker’s second full term and will expire on June 30, 2028.
