Bilbao, Spain — Promoting good musculoskeletal health among remote workers and their employers is the goal of a new fact sheet from the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work, also known as EU-OSHA.
The agency notes that remote workers must be included in an employer’s workplace risk assessment program. The fact sheet features recommendations on optimizing equipment, screens and lighting, and more. “Interactive body mapping and hazard mapping methods, combined with online tools or checklists, are a good way to identify and understand teleworkers’ home-based workplace and related MSD risks,” EU-OSHA says.
Also included is advice on how remote workers can stay active and avoid sitting for prolonged periods, improve work-life balance, and stay connected with co-workers and supervisors.
