R/ shoulder rotator cuff tear
I am 61 yrs. old.from Ohio I had a 6" tear in Feb of 2007, according to my Doc it was a massive tear. First surgery he put in 3 screws, during PT it came loose. 2nd surgery 5 screws during pt another tear developed. 3rd surgery he put in a patch. PT did some good but they found another tear. This time the only way they can repair it with out any guarantees is do a Lattissamus tenden transfer. Its one of the most difficult surgeries and you are not gauranteed to be back at 100%. I decided not to have the surgery because according to my Doc he said I had too much range of motion. Now I'm going to physical therapy to return to work and I have no work to go back to. My problem is that I cannot lift anything over 5lbs over shoulder height and my arm goes numb. I'm wondering if anyone has had this problem before and what was the out come. I told my attorney to see what they will do to settle. I'm at 35% disabled with 2 back surgeries.

RE: R/ shoulder rotator cuff tear
At Your Age and in Your Condition with Back and Shoulder Problems, You Probably will have a Very Good Chance of Receiving SSDI. My Suggestion would be Apply for that, Work Out a Settlement Agreement, and give Yourself a Break and Retire a Few Years Early!! You must have been a Very Hard Worker, to have as Many Injuries and Deserve a Break!! Just My Thoughts, and I Wish the Very Best for You!!
Failed Back Surgery, Chronic Pain, Totally Disabled. Knowledge is Power, Especially in the World of w/c. Learn as Much as You can about Your States w/c Laws, and don't Fight Battles alone, They Use Attorney's, and so Should You!! |

Thanks for the reply Worked Road construction and then drove truck. Was releasing the trailer from the truck and when I pulled the lever my shoulder gave. Also had 2 surgeries on the L/shoulder. I'm going through work conditioning and will have my evaluation on the 3rd of May. They are trying to get me back to driving but with my shoulder like it is I cannot keep it on the steering wheel long till my arm goes numb. I really don't want to retire till 65 and I refuse to work at Wal-mart as a greeter.
