Trucker, if You just Google "Failed Back Syndrome", You will Find a Wealth of Sites. But after All of the Readings You will Find You already know what it is as You Feel it Daily, a Back Surgery that has Failed to do what it was Designed to do, Leading to Chronic Pain. That's Pretty Much it, in My Situation I'm Inoperable, and Most Failed Back Syndrome Patients are also, but Some hold Out Faith as I do that Technology will Some Day Find a Way to Alleviate This Pain, and Stabilize My Spine enough to Live at Least Half of the Life I Used to!! Depression also Comes with the Injury, along with the Feeling of knowing that You May Never be the Same Again!! Pain Management and for Some Good Psychological Help is Usually the Treatment! I Hope This has Helped, I know it doesn't sound as if there is Much Hope, but I have Lived it Now for 5 Years, and that's Exactly how it has Effected Me!! My Very Best to You!!

Why are you asking about failed back syndrome? Have you been told this? I think you had some kind of surgery about a year ago. This could mean your still not fully healed also. Most I known with a L5 S1 surgery went to PT for almost a full year.

on 3-17-09 had a decompression lumbar laminectomy partial l4 complete l5 partial s1 bilateral foraminotomies of l4,l5 and s1 transformaminal lumbar interbody fusion l4-l5 and l5-s1 posterolateral fusion at l4-l5 and l5-s1 posterior segmental instrumentation l4-l5 and l5-s1 with synthes screws with local bone graft.

treating dr said more shots hade to fight for them.

ic sent me to a ime stated i was about 30% better.

further says at this time it appears that the patient has now a failed back syndrom as the patient is now 7 months from surgery and has minimal improvement and has reached mmi and not sure at this time if any further treatment will give him any long term benifit other than palliative care.

i had a total of 10 therapy sessions and 4 injections.

10 therapy sessions and 4 injections doesn't sound like enough treatment to call it failed. I personally have had well over a hundred therapy sessions and over 10 injections. I am a year since my last ACDF with fusion that to date has not fused.
I continue with therapy and will be having another series of injections in the very near future. My injury date was May of 2005

If such medical term is being used by a IME who hasn't, doesn't, and didn't treat you, then it is best that you ask your own treating doctor to make a Evaluation now. And a report to their findings. When ever an IME is performed, you should also get an appointment for a medical evaluation with your own treating doctor. This way both reports are very close together.

But, you need to hear this from your own doctor that knows your history way better.
