2nd & 3rd Opinions Problems/
How many people on here are having trouble obtaining 2nd & 3rd opinions from specialist? I tried to get a Neurosurgeon/Orthopedic 2nd opinion and was told NO WORK COMP now my doctor wants "ME" to call around looking for any specialist to take me...my work comp carrier is going to have a field day with this...
1171, can I just pay out of pocket and then bill work comp instead of telling them I'm a work comp case?

yes you can always get an opinion at your own expense. whether you are entitled to reimbursement depends on the rules in your state and the judge's decision.

Babe....we have multiple specialists around here that won't even see a patient after they have had surgery by another surgeon and most of all if it's WC. Sad. Everything is out of pocket around her and believe me my pockets are emptying really fast.

The recent MRI showed Moderate Stenosis on C3-C4 and c7-T1...I'm still waiting for a copy of the addedum to the MRI since the Radiologist missed a few things..
I'm having problems finding Specialist in Northern California to look at me. Frustrating...
BAD BOY once I get the report I will PM you and tell you the particulars.
1171...so if I present it to my carrier that I am willing to pay for the appt, they might pay?

the QME process is the authorized way to get a second opinion.
if surgery is requested then it is mandatory that they pay for a second opinion.
they might pay for you choice outside of the QME process if the judge allows it into evidence.
you can change to any doctor in the MPN at any time. that might be a way to get a second opinion.

Babebahn, okay, I will wait on the PM for the results and readings.

In the mean time, I had thought you and your case was a Texas State, and now I see you say Northern California. So please set me straight on this State issue too. I was going to look for a Neurosurgeon for you in Texas. But I see I need to look in Northern California. Let me know....Cool
