RE: Money problems/nervous breakdown
First of all; do you have an atty? If not; that's where you need to start. Check around for a WC atty & let him file an appeal. Then make calls to the collectors & see how they can help. Good luck & keep us posted.

RE: Money problems/nervous breakdown
you can try your church, local united way, salvation army, and other local resources available to you to help with getting the mtg paid for. If you have to talk to family members to see if they can loan you the money. Other than that - all I can tell you is that you need to tighten the belt - basic cable instead of all the channels, etc. Turn off lights that aren't being used - I know since its summer that you should set you ac up higher - like to 77 or 78 and that should help with the electric bill.
I washed clothes only in full loads - so even the kids that want something special washed - would have to have a full load to wash clothes if you don't have an high energy efficient washer and dryer. As for groceries - cut back to the basic cuts of meat - yes even some of them are expensive - but sometimes you can find some that are reduced for quick sale - and then freeze them. Clip coupons, watch for specials, etc. You in Ohio - So i think you have a Aldi's available - they have great deals on canned goods - they may not be the named brands - but I will tell you when your pinching pennies - every penny helps. And last but not least - what most don't think of - is to check if they have disability insurance on the mortgage - this you have to do through your creditor. If you rent - you can always check with your landlord to see if you can make arrangements with them somehow on making up a missed payment. |

RE: Money problems/nervous breakdown
Hello,
Yea, we have an attorney, two actually one for workers' comp and one for wrongful termination/retaliation claim....but we are like everyone else live one check to the next and my hubby was our main source of income....I guess I shouldn't be feelin sorry for myself, I just need to get it off my chest, hubby is really depressed so we haven't talked much about this....its so hard...I have always had a great deal of compassion for our clients, but wow do I even have more now!! I guess I have to swollen my pride and call the creditors to let them know...sad thing is since I work, we don't qualify for any public assistance.........by the way, hubby was fired after 17 years of employment w/same company and had no reprimands whatsoever and was on an emergency vacation (approved) til he seen doctor regarding this work injury and he was fired the day before he was to return to work via certified mail..very unfair for him. they could have at least let him come back and fire him to his face (even though they had no reason to fire him). Welcome to the forum. I do Parent Assist for families with children with disabilities, one of my jobs is to assist families with locating resources. As Pooh mentioned do check out your local resources, even with you working you may qualify. Many agencies look at the whole picture when considering an application for assistance. Most United Ways have online web sites, by going to the web page you can find which agency provides what service. Churchs are another great resource. Do a search of the web and find you local Community Action Program. This is a non profit agency that help with housing assistance. Hope this helps. |
