RE: bone scan
I have had two bone scans just because of my age to check for osteoporosis...no injection. My husband had a nuclear one and is having another tomorrow. If that's what you're doing....then inject you with nuclear dye and then you go back around 3 hours later for the scan....my husband's is done whole body. The films are neat. It's a small xray of your whole body but in miniature size. They show more than most tests when it comes to bones. What is your Dr. looking for?

RE: bone scan
My opinion is, I don't see how a bone scan is going to help any if your having a problem that concerns a nerve or two. For it's not going to show soft tissue issues. one spurs in a fusion area is going to cause what and what concern as it is common, for it is part of the fusion healing is all.

You need to find a real Doctor.

RE: bone scan
Blake....I haven't had surgery but do have moderate to severe stenosis and multiple large bone spurs so I know the pain.....Badboy is right. The bone scan shows just that..bones...no muscles, tendons, nerves, etc. My husband had a hip replacement and has extreme pain in his thigh. x-ray is fine, blood SED rate is high. aspiration was normal so now the ORtho wants a bone scan to look further, but this is strictly to see the bones better. Doesn't sound like the best test for what you're experiencing. JMO>

RE: bone scan
Hi,

A Bone scan will show "hot spots" of BONE injuries from the present and past.
It has nothing to do with being able to see nerve problems.

RE: bone scan
This is why Work Comp cost go so far off the scale. For useless test. The incorrect testing, and so on. Because some doctor doesn't know what they are looking for. Then we wonder why we get denied treatment sometimes.
