RE: TENS not effective for back pain

I also agree with it not helping for lower back pain. I have gotten alot of relief on my cervical and shoulder pain though.

My back has been throbbing for days now and I have no idea why. Maybe the weather ....I don't know.......From my waist down......across the back of the beltline.... and both butt cheeks. nothing down the legs but my back woke me out of a sound sleep several times last night. This is all new.

God is never late.

In the end it doesn't matter how many years were in your life but how much life was in your years.

RE: TENS not effective for back pain
Today at PT I was given one of these TENS Units, my therapist at first didn't want me to have one because she thinks I could become dependent on it. This week I have had a set back, since Sunday I have been having a lot of pain down my right leg and the outer calf and 1/2 my foot has been numb, and on top of that (this is a little embarrasing) I have been having incontinent issues again. I don't know what changed her mind on sending me home with the TENS Unit. The first time they used the big TENS machine at PT it sent terrible pain down my right leg. The Physical therapist had to remove the electrodes to get it to stop. Is it possible to have the electricity be amplified by the hardware in my back and transfer to the nerve? Has anyone else had that happen to them? It has made me nervous to try it again. Now reading how they don't really help, is it even worth trying?
