Hi all I ran across this site some time back and have just recently found it again I regret looseing it because of all the threads ive read I realy could have used your knowledge, advice and suport. My story is as follows I am a 50 year old man and have been in the welding trades all my working life 30 years. I had been injury free untill 2002 when I steped off a loading dock fell six feet and and smashed my right elbow with compound fractures they quit counting at 17 pieces and had to untangle the ulna I still have the 8 scrwes and 2 plates I never had a bit of trouble form w/c they paid all my medical and my and my ttd checks were always on time. I recovered and went back to work was laid off 30 days latter. My last injury I was building a large tool holding a plate with one hand and the crane in the other then pop went my neck I strugled but finished my shift. I awoke the next morning in a grest deal of pain and was numb and tingling from my neck through my shoulder down my hand into my arm. After clinic failed they thought it was my shoulder my ortho said its not did xray of my neck and said that was my problem sent me to nuerologist and ended up haveing fused c5 c6 c7 I recovered and was well and returned to work again no real problem from w/c. I lost my job 2 months later. It was a battle but was lucky to find another one, 14 months later I started haveing all that pain and burning in my neck shoulders arms hands and fatigue again.3/07 I made appointment with the neuro doc had mri took me off work and sent me to pain clinic there was scar tisue and bone spurs in the surgury site. I was all ready on vicodin but pm added fentenyl patch and was going to get a series of nerve blocks. My work offered me a lay off as to have some income I after weeks of nothing took it, but the same week recieved a letter cancleing my medical ins. I called doctors and hospitals but no one would work with me I never got the nerve blocks and live in constant pain. I did get a work comp lawyer and am going through the process I had an ime he set up and just last week had a vocational rehab meeting at his office she told me that I couldnt lift more than 5-10 pnds, no overhead and no side to side motion with my neck so I wont be in my trade any longer. She also said that we need to get me medical like now. My shoulders have gotten so bad since ive been off and she says that is tied to my neck. Im sorry for ramblin so much but I realy wanted yous to know at least this much. My lawyer thinks we will settle by spring but I dont know as to what I do like him but he is reserved in giving specifics. Does anyone know if what the v/r lady said about medical will happen man I hope so. Thanks for reading and thanks for this wonderfull site. I am in Michigan.

RE: vocational rehab and medical
good golly you have been thru the wringer... I cant answer any of your questions but wanted to take a minute and welcome you.....come on over to the "OFF TOPICS" and enjoy the lighter side of this place
;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....
