Final Settlement
I was injured 12/10/08, hurt my right shoulder and had to have surgery, tore my labrum. I was released from the doctor on August 26th of 2009 to go back to work full duty. I just received a letter from the workers comp carrier saying after review of my claim they were authorized to pay me $14,000.00 for a final settlement. I did not have a lawyer and didn't attempt to sue or contact a lawyer and this letter just came in the mail three months after the doctor released me completely unsolicited. They did not give me any sort of rating for disability and so far the shoulder is doing well. Is this settlement so they don't have to pay my salary again if something arises with the shoulder or is it so they don't have to pay salary and medical portion? Also is this a fair settlement offer in everyone's opinion? I'm in Virginia

Thanks for your help

RE: Final Settlement
It's fair, if you can return to work with no restrictions, and it isn't disabling you in any way. Adding an attorney with what said above will increase only enough to then pay attorney fees.

If you are restricted, and some what disabled, an attorney consult is free for the first visit anyways. Never hurts to ask at this point then.
