Not sure what I should be doing

Not sure what I should be doing
My claim is fairly recently but I'm completely confused on what I should be doing.

This past Thursday (Oct 29th) I fell at work which resulted in a minor fracture on my tailbone and some major bruising. Needless to say it's extremely painful to sit for long periods of time and my job is a desk job. I stayed out all of the 29th/30th and through the weekend. Yesterday I decided to try and return to work and stayed all day but by the end of the day I was so sore I could hardly walk. I was so physically and mentally exhausted I passed out as soon as I could. Today I came in again but informed them I was only staying to cover the office while my coworker was in a meeting. That sitting all day again just wasn't goign to happen cause no matter what I try it still extremely painful. My boss then informed me b/c of the amount of time missed he's going to file it under his workers comp policy.

Now I don't know what to do. Should I stay out of work? Should I be trying to do some work as I can? To top all this off I'm currently 18 weeks pregnant. There are concerns that I may be forced to have a c-sect to deliver this baby, that the tailbone may not heal properly therefore making it prone to a complete break. I've had 2 successful natural births before with no complications so besides the tailbone issue there was no reason to believe I wouldn't have been able to do it again.

I'm don't want a huge settlement or anything, jsut for my salary to be paid while I can't work and any medical bills above what we normally would have experienced as well. I'm just afraid I'm going to get really screwed now b/c I did come in for yesterday adn part of today cause I was trying to not blow it all out of proportion

RE: Not sure what I should be doing
keep trying if at all possiable....have you tried sitting on a do-nut you can get them at medical supply stores and it would be nice after the birth also.....I use one in the car and at church and it helps a bunch.....I cannot remember what I payed for it but I believe it was under 20 dollars....good luck

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile

RE: Not sure what I should be doing
you should be following doctors orders. do you know how your state handles medical treatment under workers comp?
are you assigned a physician or do you get to choose?

i don't know of any state that bases comp coverage on the amount of disability; from day one it's either a work injury or not.

there are no huge settlements in workers comp.
disability may be paid but not salary -- unless it's been negotiated as part of a union contract.

you need to familiarize yourself with your state work comp laws.
we can provide additional sources of information if we know which state laws cover your injury.

RE: Not sure what I should be doing
My wife fell at home in the basement and fractured her tailbone as well.. It's painfull and really nothing helps to ease the pain.. What jayne said is about the best relief besides pain meds.. The dr took my wife out of work for a week but my wife lived for her job and in 3 days went back.. They allowed her to bring a stool with a very supporting but soft cushion..

What Dr. have you seen? He/She gives the instruction on whether or not you can go to work or not and if so what restrictions apply. Did your employer give you a list of Dr.s you can see? Trying to work is a great thing BUT not if you will hurt yourself more and not without your Dr.s go ahead. Best of luck.

God is never late.

In the end it doesn't matter how many years were in your life but how much life was in your years.
