Like cap - I can't recommend what you do - but I did file for ssdi a year after I quit my job. The reason I waited a year was because I did find a job working part time where I am at - and that was the job that let me go for waking the chief up at 12:30 am. lol

You need doctors backing you, and also they need all your medical info. You will lose any ttd that you will be entitled to from this point forward because you quit your job. This does not reduce their liability to your impairment rating or medical treatment that the company is suppose to provide you - however, they will/may try and stop that as well.

you can check out the ssa web site at http://www.ssa.gov for info about filing for disability and the requirements there. You don't need an attorney to start the process, however, it is helpful if your not working at the time. lol

The last paperwork I got the ssa is going back a year prior to my last injury to see if I should have been working at all with my pain - not sure what that is about - just sent the medical records that I have currently and all the old ones that they seemed to have lost for some reason.

POOH

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE LINK AND YOUR REPLY MAN I LOVE YOU GUYS YOU AND CAP AND LIMBO ARE TRULY HELPFUL. I STILL HAVE ABOUT 6 MONTHS BEFORE I HAVE TO OFFICALLY GIVE NOTICE BUT I AM JUST THINKING IF THIS IS GOING TO BE THE END RESULT (SSD) MAYBE I SHOULD START THE PAPER WORK. BUT MY ATTORNEY SAID NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! THEN I SEE A POST ON HERE WITH THE SAME QUESTION AND EVERYONE SAID THE SAME THING WHEN AN ATTORNEY TELLS YOU NOT TO FILE FOR YOUR SSD AND THEY KNOW YOUR DOCTORS AND THEIR DOCTORS HAVE PUT YOU DOWN AS DISABLE TO KEEP DOING THAT JOB, THAT MEANS THE ATTORNEY IS LINING HIS/HER POCKETS AND NOT REALLY LOOKING OUT FOR THE I/W

SEE MY POINT? I HAVE BEEN FIGHTING THIS FIGHT OF BEING DISABLED OUT OF MY JOB SINCE I HAD MY KNEE SURGERY IN 2003. I AM STARTING TO FEEL LIKE IT'S A LOOSING BATTLE AND THE WAY I FEEL MOST TIMES I AM ONLY FOOLING MYSELF INTO THINKING I CAN KEEP PUTTING MY BODY THROUGH THIS FOR ANOTHER 15 MONTHS.

RE: HOW LONG AND WHY

Morning rholmes...I decided 6 months after my injuries that I was going to have a sit down with my attorney. I had already experienced what my husband went through for 3 years and knew I couldn't do it. Also I knew I could apply for my disability pension and SSD. After sepnding over an hour with my attorney and telling him I wanted to drop my case that day, as it was affecting my mind in a very negative way, He read me the IME report and told me I had a gold star case. he then asked if I would be willing to let it stand until the next court date which was in Feb. I told him OK BUT is nothing was done by then I wanted it dropped and would just retire. I knew I would hurt muself by dropping the WC case but my health was more important. In the back of my mind I always kept the fact that I COULD drop it if I wanted to and I COULD retire if i wanted too. Having options really help me to stick it out. Can you have a face to face with your attorney? Tell him exactly what you have told us and make him explain in laymans's terms exactly what he's doing, going to do, and hoping the outcome is.

CAP

God is never late.

In the end it doesn't matter how many years were in your life but how much life was in your years.

I really understand what you are saying Cap I do have options also not as many if i could just stick it out for 15 months. But they won' t even let me come back and try. My attorney claims she is fighting to get me back to work that's why she doesn't want me to file for ssd. But I am not sure if that is her real reasons, maybe she is just trying to get more money in her pockets I don't know

But do tell me exactly why did it take your husband 3 years to get ssd. I know you have already posted it somewhere and i missed it.
