Yeah he was a turd head. The pychologist trying to hypnotize me is what was a joke. I actually started laughing when the pendulum jewel started swinging. Anyway....

RE: Depressed
Thanks Rhonda...I am 3 1/2 years into my claim and settled. Have been with a good counselor for over a year now. I think you misunderstood. I was answering the original poster who started the thread. You have given great advise.
Please read my answer to ems over. Thanks.

Has yours been denied or accepted. Are you getting treatment and what kind if so. What state are you in?My claim has been accepted, I'm in CA, and I'm currently receiving physical therapy. I was seen by my specialist today, and after showing him how my leg weakness has progressed, he has requested surgery (discectomy). My head is reeling from that, now too. Also, the work comp company is trying to send me back to modified duty (can they do that?). My husband is in the midst of finding a job, he has been laid off since May. He is also the type of person who feels as though if you push through the pain, you can fix anything. He wobbles back and forth between being helpful and being irritating. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the strength to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. |

RE: Depressed
First let me say that most who have not been IW don't fully understand although they do try. Alot of us have spouses who are also IW.
Is surgery your only alternative? If so you really don't have a choice? Unless you're willing to stay where you are. I have several level herniations in my lumber and cervical spine, sciatica and stenosis and have been very lucky to stay out of surgery. It took two years of various different types of PT to make the pain tolerable. If your Dr. gives you restrictions and says that you can return to work with those restrictions and your employer agrees, yes they can do that. God is never late. In the end it doesn't matter how many years were in your life but how much life was in your years. |

RE: Depressed
But what if my employer can't give me the restrictions? They have no way of accommodating me.

RE: Depressed
You have to go by what your Dr. says. If he gives you restrictions and your employer makes a reasonable effort to accomodate you and can't , you can be terminated. I think that's what you're asking?? It doesn't mean your claim ends if you are terminated.

RE: Depressed
ems, I was Injured at the Age of 42, in My Prime, and I'm 47 now, Totally Disabled, and Depression Rears it's Ugly Head Often, especially with the Chronic Pain I Live with! My Suggestion, along with seeing Someone for Help would be: There is Only so Much You can do, some Things are Out of Your Hands, and those Situations have to be Discovered, and Forgotten! I had a Discectomy/Laminectomy at L5/S1 and things were going Great, until the Scar Tissue took Over, but that doesn't mean buy any means that the Same will Happen with You! Many have had the Very Same Surgery, and Live Very Normal Lives! Always Remember to Keep in Mind that Only You can Help You, and the Decisions You make have to be for what You feel will Better Your Life! Other than that, if it's a Situation that You have no Control of Let it go: Just Think of any Problem/Situation You have and Ask Yourself, "Will this Matter 20 Years from Now?" If the Answer is No, Throw it away, and Work on One that Will!!
My Very Best, and have a Great Evening!!
