Cancel IME?
Hi
Just wondering if anyone cancelled and IME appointment and rescheduled because of a prior commitment.
If you did how much trouble did you get into with the insurance company?
I know these IME appointments are important but they have strung me along for years and now this. I would only have to move it ahead a couple of days.
My attorneys letter says if I can't keep this appointment I should call the IME Dr and reschedule and let my attorney know the new date.
I guess I am just worried because I know how cruel the insurance company can be for no reason.
Any advice?

RE: Cancel IME?
As long as you have a valid reason for changing the appointment, there shouldn't be any backlash from WC. In the papers that you received telling you of your appointment, there should be an explanation as to the steps necessary to make the change. I believe you have to have the IME within 30 days of the original date in most states. And although you may only need to change it by a few days, it may be a bit longer, depending upon the Dr's schedule. This is something that you will need to work out with the Dr, and then inform your attorney as well as the IC of the new date and time so that they will have some idea of when they will receive the Dr's report.

RE: Cancel IME?
I did cancel and reschedule one a couple of years ago and had no problem with the insurance company.

We had an ice storm hit our area and although it was a mild one, I refused to drive or walk on ice.

This was previous to the knee replacement and I walk with a cane.

RE: Cancel IME?
You can cancel, if within the guidelines of proprer time (days) to cancel. Ask for a letter from them stating cancel, and showing the new appointment date. Then in form your attorney right away. When you get the letter, copy it, and send a copy to your attorney without delay.

It's my opinion to go, and not cancel, and just get it over with, and in most cases they do provide enough time for you to make arrangements to make the IME visit.
