RE: how long will it take to settle ?????
I am also a right hand dominant injury with RSD. I am in constant pain everyday but luckily I will be working at my husbands company as an admin where I can take many breaks and do very little typing and use with my bad arm/hand.
Have you checked into applying for Social Security? You may be able to qualify for that. I know I probably could right now with RSD but choose to continue to work. I do not want to sit home right now as it causes me to much depression. Maybe they can help you and it would not hurt to apply. As others say on here sometimes they deny you at first , but do not give up. Good luck. carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD. 1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10% |

RE: how long will it take to settle ?????
I had a dislocation and tore rotator cuff, only had one surgery but was sent to 14 doctors to try and find a way to fix the damage done in surgery. It can't be fixed. Have they done a EMG? Also have they done a FCE ? These need to be done to find out if any damage is reversable, as well as what you can do with the arm. I understand the loss of your primary arm as my left arm was my primary arm for over 50 year. You can learn to write with you other arm it will take time and practice.
May God send his angels to hold you in his arms |

RE: how long will it take to settle ?????
Why will they not give you any pain meds?? I have been to PM ( pain managment) and had many injections and they kept trying many pain meds to see which one worked best for me. I was not happy with one of the pain meds I was on as it made me lazy and it was not helping with the pain and I wanted to get off it. I went to a new primary doctor and she put me on Methadone 5 mgs and keeps uping my dose till I get to where I am comfortable enough to go to work.
I see her again this Wed. and think I need probably up another 10 more mg's and I am starting to feel better so that I do not have to live in my bed all day long with pain. Did you mention you were going to go to PM? If the doctor puts you at MMI and says there is nothing more they can do for you except send you to PM to make you more comfortable then I would contact someone for a rating. I was told here in NH that after 11 months after filing and if you are at MMI you can ask for a AMA guideline rating of your injury. I also lost my career because of my dominant hand and thought what the heck can I do with one hand? I could never use my left hand to write. I just cannot do it no matter how hard I try. I do use my left hand alot more now and put no weight on my dominant hand. When I carry things I always remember to use the other hand. Opening doors etc. I always have to stop and think because the more I use it, the more pain I get. Good luck and if I were you and they put you at MMI I would get a rating done through your doctor. It may be different in your state. Make sure you do keep the medical open. I have insurance through my husband , so even when they cut off my medications I used my husbands insurance. carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD. 1/29/07 injury date. Permanent. PIR settlement 8/4/08 10% |

RE: how long will it take to settle ?????
Opps sorry for talking about Voc rehab....1171 always sets our mistakes right. Thanks 1171.
I don't understand why the doctor is not giving you any meds either. That is cruelty in my eyes. Ask him again...if he says no, ask WHY? Then remind him how fun it is to try to sleep at night, and function as a person, when pain is ruling your life! Lilly PS my restrictions are 1-2 Lbs weight limit. Nothing above waist. No repetitive motion, no push pull Injured worker, & tired of it all! I'm too old for games!! A careless word may kindle strife, a cruel word may wreck a life, a timely word may level stress, and a loving word may heal and bless! |
