Do doctors write you a slip for work?

My PTP said she does not want me going back to work yet that I need to get all my treatment and things first because she does not want me to cause myself even more injury than what I already have. The thing is she never give many any paper saying that I was to be off work that I could take in to my ER. Is this normal or do they normally give you a paper?

If the dr. takes you off work. You should get something in writing. YOU want everything in writing!!!!!!! I am afraid you may find that out the hard way. I hope not.
Documention goes a long way.

Every six months I get a complete copy of my medical records. Just incase I need them. That has already proven to be benificial to me.

Ok then I need to contact my PTP tomorrow and get something from her. My problem is she is very new to the enitre WC ordeal and not sure she will even know whta to put. The reason I say that is because when I ask her for a paper for work the last time I was in there to show I was actually there she ask me what she should write on the paper. Everytime I go see her she has to ask me things about WC because she doesn't know it is like the blind leading the blind lol.

Also what do you do when your PTP and your PM do not agree on if you should be working or not?

Trying to guide the Doctor on Work Comp issues isn't your place to do so. Simply ask for a Out of Work slip is good enough.

If you give doctor the in-correct information, you could damage your case.

Bad no worries about me guiding anyone because even though I have tried to read it over and over I don't know much at all about WC in my state.

When she ask me I just look at her like HUH and tell her I have no idea. She usually just tells one of her nurses what she needs and even though they don't always seem to know either they at least try.

which Dr. is running the show?? The PTP( sorry I have no idea what that stands for) or the PM> Are they working together? I'm assuming the PM DR> feels you can work with restrictions??

My PTP (primary treating physician) who I have only seen twice and when she first seen me said I don't know why they sent you to me I don't know what I am supposed to do. She has me now going back to work in 2 weeks with no restrictions.

My PM doctor is saying ESI's need to all be completed first before I even attempt to gp back. I don't even start them until tomorrow.

The other thing is I still have a ball and joint specialist that I am seeing next week over my shoulder to find out what is even wrong with it.


Then even though it isn't WC I have a appointment for a neuro doc to be checked for MS. Still trying to figure out how I could have MS because the symptoms the doc is concerned over didn't start until after I was injured in the first place.

Thanks for clearing PTP up for me JMO>>> I wouldn't be seeing the PTP at all. I would stick with the PM DR. and him/her write the Out of Work note. This way you can get your ESI"S and nee the other ortho. As far as screening for MS try not to worry. With a neck injury (at least in my case) I had so many symptoms I had an MRI of my brain with/without contrast and an ultrasound of my carotid arteries done for some reason that I don't remember now. All was fine. Symptoms can mimic many a dx. They may want to outrule everything so they have a clear cut dx.
