RE: okla pissants
The only moth balls that work are the old style moth balls made with Naptha, not the "Para" moth balls.
The para moth balls smell like urinal cakes, the Naptha ones smell like Grandma's old closet. But be careful they are flamable and EXTREEMLY poisionous. Even the vapor can be dangerous in strong enough concentrations Bay leaves deter many ants, some may still come in tho. a good thing to do at this point is go to hardware store, and get a bunch of tubes of caulk (the cheap stuff works as good as the expensive stuff for a quick fix) and a caulk gun. Start in the basement if you have one, and start sealing all entry points you can find. You want to keep them out, not invite them in just to have to kill them. Electronic mouse traps for the mice. Less mess, and you just dump them in the trash when they are dead. Put it behind the stove, or somewhere along a base board at the wall. As for killing the bugs and beetles... it's a tough battle at this point. They are in, and getting settled too. Ortho home defence is a GREAT residual bug killer, it kills nearly all bugs. But it is very poisionous. Avatar thanks to WINK! |

Our Wally World is a super store and They do carry Terro and another called Combat. I wonder if ceder cubes would work? I have them in my closits, smells like a ceder chest but no moths etc.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain. |

RE: okla pissants
Make Terro at home!
This recipe was created using the metric system, as percentages are critical. Too much Borax and the ants will die before getting to the nest, too little and it will have little to no effect. What you will need to do is create a simple syrup, and add corn syrup to thicken the mixture. You will need to have a pan that you can throw away that is capable of handeling more than 1 liter. We will make a 1 liter bottle of this, you can use an old 1 liter soda bottle for this, but make a label that clearly marks it as poision, that will not fall off! Here are the simple steps. you want your syrup to be 2 parts sugar to 1 part water. I find it easiest to mix up a larger batch than necessary. If starting in a clean pan that has never seen poision, you can save some of this for sweet tea. Here is the poison part... measure out 600ml of your simple syrup add about 400 ml corn syrup (ants love this stuff) add 20 Ml BORAX (POISIONOUS) mix over LOW heat until the borax is disolved, remove from heat and place outside to cool in a place no pets or kids can get to it! Pour into a bottle of your choosing, but make sure it has a TIGHT fitting lid, and is clearly marked as to the content! KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN! Be sure to place the mixture, a few drops at a time, in an enclosed bait station that pets and kids can't get into. I found some from D-Con at the local dollar store. They have stickey tape to stick the station to the floor, and a key to open it up. Made for mouse poision, but work equally well for ant poision. (I can bu a few of these if you want, and mail them to you. they are light weight, and no restrictions on shipping due to no poision being in the package) If you have a problem with cockroaches, try saving the fat drained from some hamburger and mixing some borax with it (maybe as high as 50/50). Roaches LOVE grasy foods. Spread it on an old tile, and place under the stove. Roaches will eat it up and die!
