Backache's Castle was stormed
Now in the days of yor, Storming the castle was a big fight, This day and age , poor Backache and Dave had a real storm and parts of the ramparts were damaged.Tell us how it happened and how it is coming along. What a shame, It is so beautifull and all the hard work they did. Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain. |

RE: Backache's Castle was stormed
Well when I first walked in I thought OMG someone broke into the Castle and took a butcher knife to all of my funiture. There were literally 6 to 8 inches of this stuff that looked like stuffing from a sofa everywhere. Then I saw the drywall on one of the sofas and I looked up. I was shocked, to say the least, that there were two huge holes in the drywall ceiling. When the carpenters went up and checked, the shingles had been ripped away in a section of the roof and the water had poured through. The fluffy stuff that I thought was from the sofas was actually blown in insulation. Thank God I had everything scotch guarded. The boys now have built another roof over the other one with a much higher pitch and it hasn't leaked even thou we had tornado watches going on the other night. They are fixing the drywall and everything is getting back to normal. I was just happy that no one was under the thing when it gave way. Now I'm all happy again at least I will be if they can match the original faux painting on the walls, which I know these guys can do. It has rained here almost every day for the last couple of months and I 'm sick of it....Backache

RE: Backache's Castle was stormed
It was built as a rental for people who come to this area to view the elk and yes it does look like a castle. It is our retirement if it doesn't kill us or suck us dry before we have a chance to sell it. Since I was hurt I have had to hire cleaning people and it is just getting to be too much for me to deal with. But I do love it.

RE: Backache's Castle was stormed
Oh girl I'm so sorry this happened. The pics you guys showed us of the castle were just awesome and I hate to think of it being "hurt" too, lol. I hope your insurance covered the damage and I'm glad to hear it is already partly put back together.

RE: Backache's Castle was stormed
Backache,
I am just now reading this thread, I must have missed it. I am sad that the castle was damaged, but happy that no-one was sitting where the drywall fell. I enkoyed my time there even though I was having pain, beautifull scenery, great friends that were met in person finally, and such a gracious host and hostess. I'm hoping you and Dave feel better soon. Love Vickie |
