RE: medical records
All of the above posts have great info. but I'll answer your question regarding keeping your own personal records. I have every x-ray, all of my MRI films, and every piece of paper or word written by anyone about my case. My file weighs 12-15lbs. without the films. Ask your Dr.'s for your info., sometimes you have to pay a copy fee, or if your Attorney has all of your Medical files request them from him. Again you may have to pay a copy fee, but it's well worth it. If I wanted to switch attorneys tomorrow, there is not one word or piece of paper they would need to get, I have absolutely everything!!

RE: medical records
I'm sure things are going to get bumpy soon. They are pushing me to return to work soon. This is my 6th work related injury.I've gone back to work to the same job everytime. You'd think I'd be an old pro at this. But every time I learn more and more. WC over the years has treated and paid me in most of the cases quickly and fairly. That is why I questioned the medical records. I've been very lax getting copies or even seeing whats in them latley. Shame on me!! I've been so busy dealing with the pain and stress that I haven't given it much thought till the red flags went up the other day.

jake Wrote:Can the IC walk into any medical facility and ask for your records?
Several months ago I paid out of my own pocket to see an arthritis specialist just to make sure I didn't have other condiditions other than the carpal tunnel plus RSI that I have. I signed releases only to my treating Drs.and made sure not to worker's comp. The IC was there today asking for my files, the center quickly called me and told me they we there. Heck, I never got copies from them or my treating Drs. I Paniced thinking that I haven't been keeping up on things after reading lots of posts here.I quickly got on the phone and ask that they be sent to me.
Any suggestions about putting together files for you own information.

Jake:
Your medical records are an open forum for the I/C...the copier service has a copy of a medical release somewhere to obtain the records. When I sign a medical record release, I always block out certain things on there...that was great that the doctors office called you to tell you about them getting your records at least.

RE: medical records
Still In Limbo

How do you get your MRI, CT, & Xray for your records.

I have the copies of the written report of these test.

Everytime I need to take the MRI to a dr office I have to check it out from the hospital and they are very firm about me returning it.
