Getting treatment and milage reimbursement
I was injured two months ago, sprained ankle and small deep wound in my shin. The wound has not healed and I am currently going to a wound treatment center 75 miles away. Is there compensation for this milage in AZ, I have been unable to find info on the net.

Also the ankle has not been treated since the accident, the insurance company says lets take care of the wound first and I cannot go to even one of their doctors without their authorization. Sometimes it feels like the ankle is going to give out and I am concerned, also work on my feet for 8 hours straight and it hurts. What do I need to do to get a doctor's appointment for this?

Thanks in advance -

RE: Getting treatment and milage reimbursement
Hi and Welcome to the Forum!! Has there been a W/C Claim Filed, and do You have a Claim Number, or is the Employer Paying for this Themselves? That would Help Others to give You a Better Reply, I will go Out on a Limb and say if it has been Filed, and Your Ankle does Give Out, and E.R. Visit would be the Correct thing to do until You can Contact Your Employer. I Hope this Helps, and I'm sure Someone else will be on with Advice for You also!! Enjoy Your Weekend!!Wink

RE: Getting treatment and milage reimbursement
You have the right to select the doctor of your choice, unless your employer is self-insured.
If the insurance company will not agree to change, you may apply in writing to the Industrial Commission for approval. The Commission will review your case, contact the insurance company and/or the doctor, and issue an order either granting or denying the change.

Contact the ombudsmans office

Yes a claim was filed and I have a claim number. Insurance carrier tells me I need to have everything approved by the case worker, who does not return my calls, before I can do it - they also tell me I have to follow the doctor's orders to the letter then denied the medication he ordered, lol, finally got it approved. Can I go to the ER without their approval? I will call ombudsman's office on Monday as suggested, it does seem like this takes knowlege I currently do not have to use the system effectively.

Thanks much and have a wonderful day -

RE: Getting treatment and milage reimbursement
If these Problems Continue, and the Employer or Their Ins. Co. start causing You a lot of Stress and Run around, it May be Time to Consider Retaining an Attorney that Deals in w/c Issues. But a Good Start for You would be to Click on the "State Info" Tab at the Top of the Page, because You are Correct, You Must be Versed in Your States w/c rules and Regs. to Protect Your Rights, and Avoid the Loop Holes! My Best, and I Hope Your Claim goes Smoothly, and without a Lot of Problems! And to Answer Your question about the E.R, if the Dr. You are seeing is Closed, or can't get You in and You are in Serious Pain, You can go to the E.R. after trying Your Best to See Your Current Dr. Good Luck, and Have a Great Day!!Wink
