Sparkey

Mine is also an injury of the dominate hand, although not RSD. I can related to the pain you experience, and your frustration.

Going back to work may be a blessing for you.

In some ways your post decribeds me, I really don't want to go anywhere and when I do I want to come home. Part is do to the pain but I believe I am also experiencing some depression.

I use to enjoy being on the go before I was injured.

RE: Epidural injections
Thanks for the lending ears (eyes) but trully I do understand. I was out of work for a little over a year when I was injured. I was stuck at home in my wheel chair and a tv was my only entertainment. Once I was stronger and spring was here I could at least go out side and sit. I was stuck many times home by my self and with nothing to do I started to get depressed. I did not realize it at first but the family knew, and they came over to visit everyday. My wife had to work and my son was in school. I dont know how many times my son needed my help doing somthing and I had to swollow my pride and ask for someone to help my son. Depression realy does hit and it can hit people you would never think. I dont know if it is depression but it hurts to know the things I cant do anymore/ as I know its with many on here...

As far as working I would like nothing more then to just work. And I understand once it becomes a trend (not working) I did become lazy no energy tired all the time and gained almost 80lbs. I know if I stop working I'm kinda hurting myself in the long run as far as health wise but I also know my pain levels will stay low but adventually will take less to flare them up...at least with the injuries I have.

Now that I have made this long post ......Thanks Gang

RE: Epidural injections
Bronco the depression never completely leaves me ...some days are better than others....some weeks go past and I think no problems I got this licked then pow outa no where deep depression hits...Thank God I have an awesome family and a supportive church and this place cuz I can tell you for a fact I would not have lived thru this mess without the 3 groups of people......and in the 5 or 6 years I have been heree I have seen some real good people go on and get to get back to the jobs they love and some just give up......I have seen many on here just needing info to fight for what they have coming to them and those that believe that their stubbed toe is worth a million dollars........we have sat on this site back about 3 years ago and in our heads went on a cruise we had parties and food and the things we went and toured and shopped till we dropped it was a blast...Punk planned and did this I miss her..she had to change her whole way of life because of her injury....but she gave and gave and gave of her imagination to keep this going......so many good people have came and went and a bunch of them are really missed

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile

RE: Epidural injections
I whole heartedly agree Jayne. I deal with depression the best that I can at this point in my life. There are days when I want to do nothing more than pull the blankets up over my head and forget the world outside exists. But each morning, I force myself to put my feet on the floor and get out of bed, although there are days that I stay in my nightshirt all day.

I will be celebrating the 6 year anniversary here on the forum in the next month. This site was a godsend to me then and is to this day. Many friends have come and gone.. and yes, they are missed. Even though I had an almost 4 year lapse in my injuries, I remained on the board to help those that came after me. And even though I am MMI with this second injury, I will continue to remain. Sometimes all an injured worker needs is a sympathetic ear and a shoulder to lean on, and I want to always be here for everyone seeking help.

I've always been crazy, but it keeps me from going insane.

I just wanted to say in the last few days my back pain has got better. It still hurts to do stuff but the normal every day pain that is there without having to do any thing pain has lifted a bit. If that makes sense, I'm still taking tramadol and celebrex but only 2 tramadol aday lately.........I hope there is somthing to this and continues.......

RE: Epidural injections
Pain is no friend to anybody. Most people deal with pain that last a few hours to maybe a day or two, they don't know the day to day pain that can rule our lives. There are days I have the same night stuff all day, and for several days in a row. There are other days when I get dressed and get outside and enjoy the day. We can fell like we can handle anything but depression can strike at any time and for no real reason. Pain is hard enought to deal with but fighting with your employer over it just dumps that much more on top of us.

I'm happy for you Bronco and hope that you continue to get some relief.

RE: Epidural injections
I don't think any of the old timers here have not felt the way you do. When you are injured and trying to figure out this WC stuff and trying to take care of the family. There comes the day when we look in the mirror and it hits. We relize that there are things we can never do again. In my case, I had a mental break down. After about thirty minutes of crying and trying to figure out what I was going to do. I relized that I was going to have to throw my hands in the air and relize my limitations were for life. There are some things I will never be able to do again, but there are other things I can do. As far as the pain. I try to push through it as best I can before I call it quits.

I think we just need to seriously anlyize ourselves and take pride in what we can do. Doing something that I can take pride in helps keep the feeling of depression away. If you want something to do when you start feeling depressed. Start looking for funny photos on the net. I find that the humor I come across helps a great deal.
