How can I help my mom?

How can I help my mom?
My mother was injured at work in Florida on April 3rd. Her injuries included fractures bones in the face, the pelvis, and bleeding on the brain. She spent 6 weeks in the hospital and is now at home, with managed care assistance. At this point, the doctors still have not diagnosed the severity of her brain injury. She has gone from being a vibrant active 72 yr old woman to being almost an invalid. She suffers from short term memory loss as well as irrationality and fear. My father who is 77 yrs old is doing his best to help her, but he is also emotionally worn out. When I go see her, she improves, but when I leave, she regresses. I feel they would both benefit if they were able to come back to their NC home, in the town where the rest of the family lives. Does anyone know if the benefits from Workman's comp in Fl will transfer to NC? Any other advice? It is hard to help from this distance.
Thanks in advance.

RE: How can I help my mom?
WC medical benefits follow. Wage benefits many times do not because the person has "voluntarily limited there income." In your mother's case, she is unable to work anyway so it's highly doubtful they could try to use that as a reason to cut off wage benefits.

I'm so sorry about what happened to your mother. Do what you need to do for your family.

RE: How can I help my mom?
workers comp benefits are determined at the time of injury and based on the state where the injury occurred or where the worker lived. they don't change as the worker moves around.

RE: How can I help my mom?
One problem you might have is finding a Dr in NC who will accept Fl workers comp insurance. I moved from Ny to NC and unknowingly limited myself to treatment. Drs are apprehensive accepting an out of state insurance due to they are not covered by the laws and rules of another state which makes it hard for them to treat and get paid.

First I want to say, my god your poor mother. My heart goes out for you's at her age this could be terrible. But my oppinion is is start making phone calls, try to be a step ahead when dealing with WC. And as far as the move I think as long as they say it's wc her medical should continue weather shes at FL or NC. As far as ttd payments I dont know. I would do some research on some DR's in NC to make sure they will accept FL WC.

But you say she has her home in NC but was injured in FL is she employed from NC or FL that will make a difference....

But no matter what do whats best for your parents that can be hard on any one at any age.............I hope for the best for your mom and you family.......Bronco
