Mileage reimbursement in Mass.
Hello, I am wandering if the mileage reimbursement increases on the date of increase or if the mileage reimbursement stays the same throughout the claim from the date of injury and what the rate was at that time. I was injured in June of 2006 and have noticed that the rate has increased since then and have not received the increase, it has stayed at the rate of .19 a mile. Thanks

RE: Mileage reimbursement in Mass.
Here in NY the mileage rate follows the increases and decreases. So in other words the mileage may be different from month to month as was mine. Again in NY the workers comp rate is frozen from date of injury even though there were substantial increases.
Be well

satkinson, I too am from Mass., and I believe that your rate is supposed to change each time the state changes it. You could call the DIA and ask about it. Do you have an atty?

Yes I do have an attorney, however it takes him too long to return phone calls and I have to stay on top of him. Go figure. I was hoping to get the answer myself. Thanks for the input. Sue

RE: Mileage reimbursement in Mass.
My IC upped my rate automatically when the state increased it to .45 per mile. That is the only auto or nice thing they have done! lol!

Have you keep records of what you have driven? They owe you the difference. Call the Bureau of Industrial Accidents and find out how to get it, they may even have to pay interest.

Good luck!

RE: Mileage reimbursement in Mass.
I am in NH and know that Ma. does change rates from time to time and you should be up with all the rates and not still stuck at .19 cents per mile. You need to be compensated for the extra money they owe you and the adjuster should be well aware of the mileage increase since that number. I would ask your lawyer to request a check for the difference. Also keep track of your mileage they owe you. I cannot remember when it was only .19 cents. I put in for 90 miles round trip and just got a check for 49.00.

RE: Mileage reimbursement in Mass.
Wow, .19 cents a mile.....that is nothing for mileage. What is wrong with Massachuttes? I believe I am getting close to .55 a mile. I keep mine on a calender with my doc appts. and I file once a year. I perfer to get a bigger check from them where you can see you are actually being paid something then get a few measley dollars at a time. Massachuttes needs to get with the program regarding mileage. I wonder why it is so low. Does anyone know the answer to that question.

TPM,
Good to see you. How are you doing? Don't want to intrude on this thread so you can PM me if you would like and give me an update. Hope you are beginning to feel better. Take Care.
