RE: Waiting for auth for spinal cord stimulator trial
What works like a charm for me is Sena tabs and 1/2 cup of prune juie and stay close to the bathroom. It would be wise to drink plenty of water and foods high in fiber.

RE: Waiting for auth for spinal cord stimulator trial
ahhhhhhhh constapation is a topic that has been discussed here alot and all of us have different ways to handle it...What works for me is a bag of microwave popcorn every day and lots of water...over straining can cause even more problems.....in the summer I get a break cuz watermelon is an easy way to get fiber and water and it taste good too!But your pharmacy will be able to help you if you dont wanna wait to a dr appt to discuss this....but dont let it get to bad it can really mess you up
;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....

Yeah! I love watermelon too! Bought me a huge bottle of prune juice. I was told to slightly warm it and poof! LOL Thanks for the reply.

RE: Waiting for auth for spinal cord stimulator trial
I know you do not like taking the meds that your are, but even if you have the SCS implant done. You still may need to take them.
In my case, it took about 6 months for the approval. It was denied once and another procedure was tried. After that procedure showed no results, then it was approved. Prior to the trial period, you may have to have a mental exam. Take Care 8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. Jesus died for our sins. Soilders died for our freedom. |

RE: Waiting for auth for spinal cord stimulator trial
Good Morning to you! Thank you for your words of advice and yes I do have to take these darn meds and deal with the "side effects". I already had a mental exam and now I have a psychiatrist approved for my secondary doctor. I know I will be given more meds as the mental exam doctor (4 hr long) appt. asked me 'would you see a psychiatrist if you were able to'..I said yes. Then he asked me if I would take meds if i was told to. I asked what kind. He said "anti depressants" duh george. I told him I am already taking some- elavil with neurontin (one pill gabatrip) and last year took 120mg of Cymbalta - landed me in the ER after taking it for several months had severe liver pain and then was taken off it (had morphone too- Ethex Co. had a recall due to double dosages in each pill- that was real fun). So that was that. Now at least I will have a trained professional to hear MY PROBLEMS during the long period it will take to get approval for the trial SCS. I guess my attorney has worked with him in the past- I pray I get the proper care I deserve! All "my mental problems" I have or ever had can all be blamed on the WC system and how long they take to approve the care you need. CRPS is a disease that needs immediate trreatment and knowing that I have to wait a long time for the trial is just freaking me out. I have noticed the pain is moving from the right side of my upper extremity to the left side at the spine area. Please pray it has not spread (it has been over a year since it was diagnosed). Okay off the negative and back to prayers and better things today! Hope you are doing okay. Where are you with your care and treatment?

RE: Waiting for auth for spinal cord stimulator trial
New med called Relistor is a self administered sub-cutaneous injection that works better than anything else..or when all else fails. Word of caution..do NOT use a stool softener. Mag citrate works well OTC
I am back on my pain meds and now I have a huge problem with "constipation". Any pointers on the best remedy for being clogged? I can't believe I am discussing this but I seem to be too embarrassed to tell my doctors and have been like this for two weeks now! Yuk! Maybe should have used a new thread for the last part of this posting?? [/quote] |
