You will find that there are about five of us that have a scs. The scs benifits some and not others. The trial period will tell you if it is going to work or not. Keep in mind that a scs is not a fix all cure. I wish you the best.

RE: Waiting for auth for spinal cord stimulator trial
I have been reading the postings from all 5 of you and I feel so bad for the injuries you have. I don't know if I could handle the back surgeries, injuries you have had to live with. I had 6 Stellage ganglion blocks to my sympathetic nervous system. The first couple did not give me any relief. But the next series gave me relief. The injections themselves are a hit and miss and I finally learned what that meant as I remember screaming during the procedure (i had conscious sedation)..I did remember the one that actually was a "hit". I was so happy and pain free for a few days. My WC carrier gave approval rather swiftly and that was an actual "good" thing that was done in my best interest. So low and behold I was told by my upper extremity specialist and my PM doctor that I am a perfect candidate for the trial. I am now sinking slowly with worry as now that I felt like I was getting somewhere with my pain, I now have to wait all over again. I was told that "SCS trials usually take a long time to get approval". I am very bummed out as I had been diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome in 2008 around March by my first pain management Dr. WC sent me to an ortho doc who disagreed with the diagnosis. So I had to wait another year to get a new pain doc. He diagnosed CRPS again. CRPS can be dealt with in its early stages if treatment and therapy get started ASAP. Long story short..it wasn't managed for almost a year and the pain got worse. I am so afraid to have to go backwards again waiting for approval for this trial SCS. I am back on my pain meds and now I have a huge problem with "constipation". Any pointers on the best remedy for being clogged? I can't believe I am discussing this but I seem to be too embarrassed to tell my doctors and have been like this for two weeks now! Yuk! Maybe should have used a new thread for the last part of this posting??
