It's over, Done, Outta Here!!!!
Had a hearing scheduled for this morning, My atty called yesterday and said that the IC atty was finally able to convince my former employer that he WILL lose if we go to hearing. He explaine to him that their own Drs. report favored me as well as the IME. So yesterday they made an offer to settle and I said "Nope". My atty said "I have'nt even given you a number yet". It was my turn tobe a p-rick and I played it out, refused 3 offers. So this morning I accepted their so-called final offer, which pays off some bills and leaves me with a pretty good saving account. I also got them to agree to pay for the reconstructive surgery in December and to release me from any liens on the case (std ins. co. wants $10,000 back). They offered to give me that $10,000 and "maybe" the std ins. co. would not come looking for it, I said no thenks, you can pay it when they come looking.I also got the voc-rehab approved and have already met with a counseler. The money was less than what I hoped for, but I am very happy to be done with them, however I intend to stay on this forum, you guys all give awesome advice and most of the jokes are pretty funny!!! Thats my happy story of the day, good luck to everyone!!!!!!!!!

Fencer,

That is terrific news. I am glad that they came to see things your way. As long as you are happy with the settlement and your portion of it, that is all that matters.

I too signed settlement papers on my claim. When all is said and done and the attorney paid off, I will walk away with about 4 grand over the next 24 weeks .. and an arm that will only continue to get worse with no treatment allowed. They also owe me just over 2 grand for travel over the 8 months I was fighting my claim. All I can hope for is that my SSDI attorney will be able to get me my SSDI / SSI along with dependent SSDI for my youngest son.

I am so through with having to mess with insurance companies that think that they know more then a licensed Dr. And with SSDI I won't ever have to worry about being caught up in WC ever again. Although I would love to be able to work somewhere, even part time. I hate sitting around the house all the time.

Glad that you are going to stick around for those that will follow. Maybe someday in the future, we won't ever have to worry about other injured workers having to look for a sight like this. But until that day, we will all be here to walk them through the mess.

Good Job Fencer,
I'm glad you have decided to stay around and help others. I made the decision to continue with the forum when I settled, and so many others have to. I'm glad that the wieght of the W/C is off your shoulders. I too will continue having permanent problems from my various injuries, but my mind has been helped by getting away from the W/C people. Congrats.
Love
Vickie

RE: It's over, Done, Outta Here!!!!
I wish I could get it over with and be done with WC forever.
My first claim began in 2001, for my cervical... my second claim began in 2004 for my lumbar area. The lumbar claim I had a Spinal Cord Stim implanted in Sep.2009. My cervical claim we are fighting right now for a second surgrey. The bracket holding my fusion has slipped and sitting on the C7 nerve now. They will have to go in and take out the hardware and when they do that, they are going to fuse the C4,C5,C6,C7 disc all together. Do you think I will ever be done with them? I wish i was as fortunate as you.

Cervical Fusion 2003, c5-c6. Herniated and damaged Disc L1- L4-L5 S1. Lumbar Spinal Cord stimulator implant 09-2008. Cervical ACDF revision with hardware c4-c5-c6-c7 Sept 2009.
SSDI approved 3-2010. NOW OFFICIALY RETIRED
