RE: SWINE FLU? Are you worried? Is it in your state yet?
It was in the news today that my home town of Lowell, Mass. which I live on the border of had two girls that tested positive for the swine flu. The results came in today. My daughter and her two kids live in lowell and she also works in downtown lowell at At&T. I just hope that she is safe , and that these girls did not walk into the phone store to purchase a phone as my daughter is 6 months pregnant. It is a very scarey thing. I do not know the ages of these girls but heard they did stay home from school yesterday.

I also saw that Logan airport in Boston was putting a safety place in plan in case there was an epidemic of the swine flu. Seems everyone is getting prepared on what to do in case it becomes widespread. Which is a good thing to do. I also saw on the news that the president was okay after being in contact after being in Mexico.

They are taking extra precautions at border crossings, and if you had any hint of being ill recently, you aren't allowed to cross into or out of the US.

Cuba has closed all flights in and out of Mexico, so if you are a Cuban citizen, or going to Cuba after having been there on vacation.. you aren't getting near Cuba via Mexico.

Texas of course was one of the first states, New York being the other, that reported cases of the swine flu. Randy is worried more for me than himself, as I am constantly out and about and interacting with the public. And because all of my other medical problems have lowered my resistance to infection, he is on my like white on rice making sure I wash my hands et al after I get home. I'm not going to let the threat stop me from living my life. If I get it, I get it. I'm not going to cower in a corner until there is no more threat.

Working as a teacher we taught the student the importance and correct technique of hand washing.
And a section of one of my college classes was over the correct way to wash your hands.

Most people wash their hand and grab that door knob covered with germs.
I believe this is something we all need to pay attention to when out in public.

Like UA I also have a low immune system as many of us do on the forum.
Both hand washing and staying away from people that are sick are very important to all of us right now.

there have been 6 cases in Texas and 4 four of them are 20 miles up the road. Two public school districts have closed until May 11 so they can be disinfecteded and the flue can run its course. Yesterday the local HUMANA health building closed because some people felt like they had the flue.

Well like they say on the news, if anyone feels sick they should call their doctors office and get an appointment right away and have a swab done to be tested for the swine flu and STAY home. If you do not feel well it is best to stay home from work, school, etc. Not to go to work and pass it on. That is how it is spread from people to people. Some people just do not know when to stay home when sick.
