Employer treating my husband poorly
My husband has been put on "light Duty" He was told by one of the supervisors that "You are a light duty worker you are not allowed to communicate". They have been treating him as if he was a rabid dog. He is not allowed to communicate with anyone in the office.... not one word. He is not allowed any phone calls, he has heard customers ask if he works there and they all say "he does not work here" In other words don't talk to the bad man....

They are punishing him for being hurt. and he is not the only one. Another woman who is also on light duty is being treated poorly. They are trying to get him to quit so they do not have to cover him on workers comp any longer.... OOOOOHHHH they make me so angry... Anything we can do?

Mrs C

RE: Employer treating my husband poorly
get a lawyer or talk to your HR person.....sometimes they think just because your not bloody or a bone sticking thru the skin your faking.........these are the times you will find out who your real friends are

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile

RE: Employer treating my husband poorly
workers comp is not health insurance; it doesn't end when the employee leaves.
The insurance covers the employer for the claim as long as the claim exists.
Most states have anti-dicsrimination provisions that prohibit employer retaliation for filing a claim.

RE: Employer treating my husband poorly
Sorry to hear, it just dont seem right does it? His employer has nothing to do with wc covering him. WC will cover him weather he works there or not until he has healed......................Some employers can be jerks hopefully he can stand his ground and stay within restrictions. I wish you's best of luck..................

RE: Employer treating my husband poorly
google "EEOC" about discrimination in the workplace.
That is such bullcrap that a company treats people like they are "nothings" or trying to punish them for getting hurt & filing a claim!!!
It sounds like retaliation to me...if so Talk to WC cert lawyer.
Good Luck

Injured worker, & tired of it all! I'm too old for games!!

A careless word may kindle strife, a cruel word may wreck a life, a timely word may level stress, and a loving word may heal and bless!

RE: Employer treating my husband poorly
If your husband can find another job within his restrictions I would do so. I know with the economy the way it is it may be hard but just to let you know that he does not have to stay working for that company in order to keep the WC benefits he is receiving now.

Also whoever is doing this to him or who is telling other people to do this to him should be reported for doing so. That is discrimination. I would definitley bring it up to HR or file a report. That is harrassment and I would not let it go lightly. I would also tell your husband to NOT quit as that is what they want him to do so that he would lose his benefits. People seem to think that if you do not have blood dripping or a body part cut off that you are not injured. They think that your going to get rich off of wc. What they do not understand is people lose their homes, careers, get depressed and many other things that go along with injuries that we sustain from on the job injuries. Until they walk in our shoes they have no idea how it affects our lives. Tell him to hang in there and just go to work with his head held high as they are the ones with the problems and cannot deal with having feelings towards their co-workers who need them at this time in their lives.

carpal tunnel recurrence/ neuropathy / RSD.
