Hi all......Still not too many answers. PCP gave me some Mobic and Lidocaine patches. Helped a little last night. Need to have a Venous Doppler done of my arm today to outrule clots. Just what I needed to hear. He also thinks the swelling above my collar bone is a fatty tumor BUT since it didn't occur until almost a month after surgery and after starting PT has his doubts. Would like a CT scan of the whole are done but wants me to see the surgeon first to get his opinion. Will do that on Tuesday. If the surgeon blows it off or wants no tests, PCP will order them. He said these fatty tumors can come up for no reason and there's noting that's done about them. Also said my first rib COULD be out of place BUT the area of the swelling is not caused by the rib. So I am still somewhat in the dark. Will be glad when they outrule clots today. Haveing it done at 11:00. Will check in when I'm done unless of course I have one and then they will admit me immediately. UGH! Always something.CAP God is never late. RE: Update
Hi Cap, wanted to let you know I am praying for you.
Everything you mentioned in your post I experienced last winter with my left leg. Dr thought the swelling was a blood clot, had the test and it turned out okay. Was sent to the cancer center due to an abnormal mri, abnormal enhanced mri and abnormal ct scan, even had a biopsy. It did end up beigh a tumor, although it was a benign fatty tumor that will not be removed. Sounds like the drs are on the side of caution and thats okay. Best Wishes! |

RE: Update
Cap, I'm not going say your Doctor (PCP) is right or wrong. I didn't see in your up-date, where you told this day you went to PT and had a SUB PT, that was over Agressive with you, is the exact time all these issues with the TOP RIB area came into play. But lets go back in to that day and time with the SUB PT again. lets see, Fatty Tumor's just so happenj to fall on that day and time frame. I find that hard to take myself. I'm feeling you think the same. h, by the way, this Top Rib concern. As you have learned mine is one way and then lQQk at Pooh, hers is different then mine. My muscles do get swollen at the area you mentioned also when the Rib Pops. As soon as I catch the muscle flare up, in goes my Thumb, as hard and as far as I can get it to go in at such point, moving it around and pushing, till that Muscles lets go. Then off till the next time. The area will be sore, for heck, it just took a major impact at that area. Now if you have a Top Rib issue, your's could be even more different the Pooh's or mine. Yes, like you, I will wait to see the X-ray or MRI, or even Cat Scan Pictures before ruling it in or out. I pray the Pathches help you.

RE: Update
Hi Cap,
Just to let you know, after I had heart surgery, my body was in an emaciated state (less than 110LBs and I'm near 6')....and the day i returned home from the hospital, I looked in the mirror and noticed 2 huge areas above each collar bone at the base of my neck, that looked puffy, swollen, and resembled lumps. I figured it was just some left overs from surgery trama to the body, since this area was normally sunken. Well, several years have passed, and those puffy areas are still there. My MD said they were also fatty tumors. So now I'm wondering if it's not a normal consequence of a surgery, since so many of us have experienced it. Any one else notice this after surgery? Just my observance, but it makes me wonder if it's a normal response to something that's aggravated or triggered. Prayers for you in hopes you don't have anything serious. Lilly

RE: Update
Oh all my friends....I love you all so much. I get the possible clots chekced out at 11:00. Will check in WHEN that is outruled.
badboy......I agree with you totally. Will definitely have the CT scan done whether it;s through the PCP or the surgeon. Don't know if the surgeon will want x-rays done in his office Tuesday but am hoping. Only took the one mobic last night so I am sure it will take a few days to kill some of the swelling and inflammation. The patches gave me maybe 2 hours relief instead of the 12 they take claim to. Lilly......PCP feels sure that is is a benign fatty tumor and feels possibly the surgery or PT brought it out. Doesn't seem to be out of the norm. He's usually in my experience pretty accurate in his dx so I am hoping. He did also tell me that nothing is done about them but this hurts and compresses my collar bone in between the swelling and my pec muscle. You described it perfectly. Exact spot. I have to tell you girlfriend 6' OMG I am barely 5"2'. Don't worry about the boobs, we don't need them, men do. LOL Bummer.....Thanks for the info. I am really believing this is what it is now. Too coincidental that there are three of us that have aquired this thing after surgery. Here's hoping all ends well today and then again on Tuesday with some answers. Limbo and Deb....keep those prayers coming. It's scary when they mention clots and tumors. Will catch up when I know I am clot free. CAP God is never late. In the end it doesn't matter how many years were in your life but how much life was in your years. |
