Can a second FCE be done?

Had Arcon computerized FCE done 2 weeks ago. Had doctor's appointment yesterday for result. I had not taken pain med in 8-10 hours prior to the test because I wanted to see what I could or could not do. I told the person performing the test that I was hurting prior to starting the test. He told me to do what I could but not to engage in any maneuver beyond what I could tolerate or would cause harm or injury. Doing some of the test I was hurting with increasing pain but still attempted the test. The test said I failed the coefficents of variation in the ST testing,HD testing and the right strenght cruve testing The therapist noted on his report to the doctor that He thougth I put forth QUESTIONABLE effort throughtout the evaluation .I can truthfully say I tried but was hurting very much that day and could not do all test as long and as instructed to. I live in the state of Louisiana. Also Has any one ever failed a FCE and what was there outcome?

Failed doesn't mean what you are thinking. It means you tried, yet were unable to complete. That's all that means.

Same thing happened to me, except the guy giving the test was a "butt". He basically told me that I should do the test, regardless, because there wouldn't be a need for the test if everyone complaining of pain didn't take it. So, I informed him that I wasn't hurting myself for the test. I had told him that I was still under restrictions and waiting for more tests to find the source of my pain, but he couldn't have cared less.
I, at least, attempted every part of the exam (hip and back injury), when the results came back, (to this day I have not been allowed to see them), the doctor said that I was magnifying my symptoms and yada yada yada. He has treated me like crap ever since.
I ended up hiring an attorney and asked him about the FCE and he said that all workers comp can say about it is that they did not get an accurate test result and that it basically isn't needed for anything.
All determinations made in reference to your condition are made by your treating physician.

I've had 2 FCE's, and 2 IME's, and All have Shown about the Exact Results. The only thing I would Question about Your FCE is the Person Administering Saying You gave Questionable Effort. Maybe Your Attorney could Write a Letter, or Make a Call to that Person to try and Clear that Up! Good Luck!

The answer to the question, as to whether or not you can do a second FCE...yes you can. Some states make you pay for it though. I think it depend if the i/c got the answer that they wanted or if they think they can get a better answer a 2nd time. My lawyer told me about a person that she would like me to consider saving my own moner for, just in case they did not like my last FCE that they had sent me to. My lawer said that if the i/c ever gets a good FCE for their case, it is highly recommended to pay to have a 2nd one done from one that your lawyer knows about. So, yes you can...but who pays? That I don't know. Do you need it? Doesn't sound like it. Your report seemed to be inconclussive for the i/c.

I have had four FCE'S and failed all of them. BadBoy, said it correctly, you did not complete it. Thats all it means.

FCE'S are not only used by the insurance carriers and attorneys. They are also used by the drs.. To aid them in thier decision as to the next step of medical care to provide. It helps them in determining if a procedure has worked or if something else id needed.

Very Good Reply AQA! My First was done by My Dr. for Diagnostic Review, and the Second by the i/c to try and get a Better Report. The Unfortunate thing for the Ins. Co. was, that the FCE They Use is the One that is Located in My Dr.'s Main Office!! They Rent Space to an FCE Co., and I got My FCE's from the Same Place, My Dr.'s Office!! I don't think to this Day that they Figured that Out!!
