spinal fusion and pain again
good morning, i had a two level fusion over 1 year ago, hurt on the job, terminated (non -union), been collecting ttd for almost 3 years and now that voc. rehab. is about to begin, the pain was getting worse ,so i had my lawyer get the ok from the ic and saw the doc. , had an mri again with contrast and now i have the discs above the l4,l5,s1 area , namely l3 l4 and l2 l3 showing that i am having slight herniation, bulging, spur form. and of course , multi level disc disease. my mmi stated light to mod lifting up to like 30# . i am wondering if when i go back to see my doc. soon, other than another surgery , which i will not have , what on god's earth can they do for me now? i am 56 , did much lifting for almost 25 years and obvoisly ot is showing. has anyone ever heard of what could happen after words , post fusion , ? any input, advice, or situations would be appreciated. thanks...

RE: spinal fusion and pain again
Hi Grand Prix, and Welcome to the Forum! I'm a Disabled Lower Back Patient, and it Sounds to Me like You May be Experiencing the Domino Effect, which is the Discs above Your Fusion Starting to Fail, due to the Added Stress on them. Believe it or not, Mild Herniations can Heal with the Right amount of Rest and PT, and Pain Management. They May Try Trigger Point injections, (ESI Shots) and Possibly a Regimen of Anti-Inflammatory and Pain Meds. My Condition will Never Heal, only Worsen over Time, and I Started this at the Age of 42!! I Wish You the Very Best, and Please Discuss these Options with Your Dr. and See how They Feel. Based on Your Age, and Time You did Heavy Lifting, I don't See You back at 100%, but they May be able to Help with the Pain!!Wink
