Grass fires
Today we are under a Red Flag Alert for my area of Kansas.

We have high winds, and dry conditions that place us a high fire risk according to the local news reports.

I live in the country and we now have a fire 1 mile to the east of us, and a fire 3 miles to the south of us, and another one two miles to the west of us.

It is almost time for me to drive into town and pickup my son from school. I do hope the roads remain open and I can make it into town and back home again.

We keep loosing power & phone service, so I will be online again if the power stays on.

RE: Grass fires
BK, Stay safe and keep us posted...........We can't see the grass here with all the snow on the ground.

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass.
It's about learning to dance in the rain.

RE: Grass fires
It took a couple of hours but made it back home.
Lots of activity with fire trucks heading to the fires.

The wind is still high keeping us in the extreme catagory for fire danger but when it gets dark the wind should die down.

RE: Grass fires
The day ended well with the wind dying down. We have extreme dry conditions right now and if the wind picks up today it will be another red flag day.

100 acres of pasture land burned in a fire near by yesterday afternoon. At one time ther were 5 fires burning in near by pastures.

The weather report is calling for some much needed rain tomorrow.
