Admin, sometimes UNANIMATED avatars can be distracting!

RE: Admin's Cool Tip Line

Todays subject is Avatars - notably animated avatars....

OK - Now that you are getting settled in - ask yourself:
We are seeing many creative avatars show up, but does your animated avatar distract from your message? Do people spend their time reading what you have to say, or will your avatar make them miss your message?

IMHO, animated avatars aren't a bad thing. The level of animation does make a difference in level of distraction. Sometimes less is more......

Respectfully,
I think that, yes, for now only - while we are settling in with this new forum (experimenting with the toys and all) the animated effects may be somewhat distracting amongst ourselves (the regulars)--but in the long run, I don't really see any problem.  I think the animated avatars are cool, mod and actually show one's underlying personality.

On the other hand Smile some of the stationary avatars are cool, too - but could ALSO be somewhat of a distraction and take away from the poster's message--depending on the avatar itself.  Take for example, THIS avatar [Image: avatar_1.jpg]...what is that thing?  I can't help but to keep lQQking back at that thing while I'm desperately trying to read the message!  Although it's not moving, its soul MUST be animated, or something! Wink

Why, it is Scrat, of course... From the Ice Age Movies. He spends the whole movie just trying to get the prize!

By the way Princess, you haven't seen ADMIN first thing in the morning. It could be a self portrait. Tongue

Toungue RE: Admin, sometimes UNANIMATED avatars can be distracting!

Oh, yes, (Ice Age) I loved the movie, in fact because I have 5 Grandsons, I by them all as soon as they are release, for me and the boys to watch. But heck, their for adults too, and way too funny.

Advatar's, it doesn't bother me on who puts what up for their's. I haven't had one distract me yet. I myself started with one I liked and still do. Then on night, I couldn't sleep, and found the one (BAD BOY), well you just know I had to put that up. Big Grin Funny thing was, I didn't know it flashed in 2 different colors. But I will say, if anyone thinks it is something of even a slight distraction, I wouldn't not mind, and I will put the first one I had back up. It's all fine with me. I'm easy going. Tongue

Admin, I like your's too. I did the other night find different versions of your's, and even one that moved too, guee it all depends on how long you want to play hunt and peck on the internert searching under (Free Advatars). Big Grin
