AME
Hello everyone,
Its been a while since I posted. A few things have happened since my last post. I was denied SSD and I'm in the process of appealing. They stated," my condition is not severe enough." I have two new issues since SSD denied me. I'm now being seen by an Ortho surgeon for L5-S1 isthmic spondylolisthesis. Surgeon suggested conservative treatment of ESI injection at least four weeks apart, which will be done by my pain management doc. PM started me on percocet for pain. If no relief then surgery. Surgery would be laminectomy and interbody fusion with posterior pedicle screw instrumentation. Also being treated by psychiatry for depression and have been perscribed Citolapram and trazadone. My questions are: Should I request a EMG and possibly a neuogram, for the LLE pain before considering surgery? The pain management doc is very thorough in her documentation. Could she request the neurogram as well as the emg? Or should it be Ortho? I also read about Piroformis syndome and it appears to me that I have all the symptoms. I have a lot of pain in my left buttock and back of thigh. Sometimes I can't even sit on my left cheek. The therapist told me it is highly unlikely that I have the syndrome. Also I'm to see the AME on the 11th of this month. What should I expect and how should I prepare? My lawyer said he uses this Doc for must of his clients. My last question is should I pursue trying to add the issue with my lumbar spine. Which is a pre-exsiting issue that has not bothered me for at least eight years until I started having multiple falls that started after my work injury. My lawyer seems skeptical about adding it to my work injury claim. Although I feel it was aggravated due to my WC injury. Thank you for any advice. Nurse in Ca. |

RE: AME
you've already seen a lot of doctors - the exam and routine is the same with the AME. If you want you can prepare a detailed medical history in writting with names and dates etc. ahead of time an leave it with the doctor. It'll help them include an accurate history n their report.
discuss your back and the tests with the AME-they'll want a complete medical history and you shouldn't leave anything out. |

RE: AME
I was diagnosed with piriformis syndrome , Patella femoral syndrome , tethered spinal cord syndrome, herniated discs and degenerative disc. The piriformis pain is unbearable and constant but can be mistaken for sciatica as the sciatic nerve runs along side of the piriformis muscle. See a neuro for a diagnosis. A therapist has no buisness diagnosing.

Good Luck Lilly
Injured worker, & tired of it all! I'm too old for games!! A careless word may kindle strife, a cruel word may wreck a life, a timely word may level stress, and a loving word may heal and bless! |
