vocational rehebilitation meetings
Hi to all. So much from my settlement. My case was scheduled for mediation on December 15, 2008. Then for some reason it was cancelled from the WC site. So while I was waiting for new hearing, I received a letter from my attorney today to advise me that a vocational rehabilitation meeting has been scheduled for me at his office at the end of January. I would like to know if there is anybody out there who can help me with this question: How does a vocational rehabilitation meeting affect my settlement, how a vocational rehabilitation meeting works, or if there will be any settlement at all?

I'm from Michigan, and any help will be appreciated.

RE: vocational rehebilitation meetings
voc rehab is to try and find another job you can do with the education and or training you have or can be trained to do...your settlement will take into count all these for if you had a job that payed you 20 dollars an hour and can be trained to do another job that makes you 20 an hour then no settlement adjustment is needed after training but if training can only net you a job that pays 15 an hour then an adjustment will most likely be made.

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile

FLOWER1968

You posted the best Voc Rehab Post I have ever seen.

Because the first meeting is to be set-up in your Attorney's office. My hat is off to this Attorney, and they are right on the money for this process in their office. See, your Attorney, is going to insure all the guidelines of your Voc Work Rehab Process. You are the first person I seen have an Attorney do this best step for them. Kiss them, hug them, buy em coffee.

Since it is going to take place in your Attorney's office, I have to say my opinion won't count much then till you tell us of how this meeting went, and the line of process that will be taken. There won't be any surprises for you this way.

Thanks Bad Boy, are you really joking with me or what? I'm afraid that I did not understand what you are trying to tell me. I had always had doubted my attorney's help, but right now I'm really scared. I've also never heard about having meeting in attorneys offices either so if this going to get worse; do I have any chance to hired a new attorney or is it late now? Please don't get me wrong I just feel like I'm losing my hope that this case will ever finish. Anyway, I'll keep you posted. Thanks a lot.

I agree, having the meeting in the attorney's office is the best. If the meeting took place any where else without the attorney present. well, there is no telling what the out come could be. This way your rights will be protected.

RE: vocational rehebilitation meetings
FLOWER1968, you may have always had Doubt with your Attorney, but I have to say, your Attorney seems to be working for you. Any Attorney that sets up a first meeting with Voc Work Rehab in their office, is a good Attorney in my book. For very few will do this task, to make sure Voc Work Rehab is in your best interest.

I don't think it's going to get worse. But I will tell you Voc Work Rehab is a task, and will take up a lot of your time after a few weeks. You will be writting everything you do, times and dates and such. Good record keeping at this time is very important for you. Then you will be sharing your reports with the Voc person and your Attorney. And the Voc person must share their reports with you and your Attorney.

This is in many cases the last step of your W/C Case before settlement.
