NCV = Nerve Conduction Velocity test and is often paired with the EMG portion which measures motor input, the NCV portion measures sensory ( a simplification).
CTS is diagnosed via NCV, the EMG portion is not needed for the diagnosis but is often done and may show slowing as well, just depends on the age and severity. MRI is not used to diagnose CTS as it is less sensitive than NCV and more expensive but it does investigate other abnormalities such as tendonitis. I'm curious as to what the hand surgeon determines via MRi; ie; a pronator syndrome or TFCC tear etc that may be causing your problems. |
