RE: 1171
unfortunately the atty already got paid so their incentive to explain that statement to your satisfaction is not strong. You can contact the I&A officer at your local board for more help

RE: 1171
I paid the attorney "extra" monies to be able to have questions answered. I added $12,000 to the settlement to keep him on board. His assistant said that since I settled the claim and have future medical/open medical that I will never be able to receive anymore monie or ever go on TTD/PTD...this sucks. My condition is getting worse and I will not be able to financially make ends meet with the current situation. Thank goodness I don't have any outstanding bills! Unfortunately, all my funds will be gone in about 2 years and the funds I get from the annuity will not be able to pay my rent. OH WELL>Tongue

RE: 1171
WHAT??????!
that's illegal as hell!
an atty is forbidden by state law from taking any fees for a work comp claim outside of that awarded by the comp court. No "extra" fees allowed. damn these guys and *****edited by admin***** like this drive me crazy!

you shouldn't roll over so easily on either of these issues. Your future medical can be worth thousands.
If it was not settled you should at least try to activate it or contact the carrier and try to settle it now.
Please contact the I&A officer or the state bar or another atty (if you can find one to trust).

If you know about a problem and fail to act to correct it you could be out of luck later.

Maybe the facts are just too complex and nothing has been done incorrectly but you should at least let someone who knows more about these things review the paperwork--just for your own peace of mind.
