second opinion Iowa
Does a person have a right to request a second opinion for surgury under workmens Comp. They 1st doctor says surgury and has the bed side manor of a rock. I would feel better if I got a second opinion plus someone who does this type of proceedure (arm/hand)orthoscopicly would also be a plus.

RE: second opinion Iowa
WC will most likely send you to a 2nd opinion as they do their darnest to get out of paying for surgery...instead of being upset about his bedside manner google him if he is the best at what he does that is better than a good bedside manner.....My gastro Doc was a complete zero when it came to bedside I asked around(the nurses) and found out he knew his stuff then googled him yep he knew his stuff....I ignored his bedside I wanted his brain and steady hand....
You are always intitled to a 2nd opinion you may have to pay for it but you are intitled to it.....

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile

RE: second opinion Iowa
that's correct.
you have the right to request either second opinion or change of doctors. the employer/carrier does not have to grant you a different treating doctor.
if your request is denied you can take it to the comp court

RE: second opinion Iowa/question for Jayne
Jayne,

When I try to google a doctor, websites always ask for a fee for reports. Do you know a free website where you can find good doctors?
Thanks.

Kat
