RE: w/c dr. doing more harm than good
The procedure in known as an epiduroscopy with adhesiolysi, is done by pain physicians, and is done through a non-operating endocscope where the pain physcian, almost always an anesthesiologist as surgeons do not think this procedure is worthwhile, directly visualize the scar tissue and nerve and use the blunt tip of the scope to probe and break up the adhesions to the nerve etc. They then introduce a particular medication through the scope to the area.
The midwest regions best spine center is at the Cleveland Clinic where much of this research is going on. |

RE: w/c dr. doing more harm than good
My Pm Dr. Tried Fluoroscopic, ESI Shots, and could get No Where Near the Nerve due to the Pain. She then went to 3 Nerves that Travel to the S1 and Administered Medications, I had a Total over 3 Visits of 36 Shots. No Extended Pain Relief. I was then Sent to Westinghouse Hospital to See A Dr. that was Considering Putting Me Under Anesthesia, Administering the ESI Shots, and Try and Break Up the Scar Tissue. I don't Remember them Using the Terminology You Used, but After Reviewing My MRI's and Medical Records, He felt that He Could only do More Harm then Good going in to try, the Scar Tissue is so Thick and Totally Encapsulates the S1 Nerve Root, which is still Crushed. So I guess I would have to Say Yes, Something like that was Considered, but not Done due to the Area of the Scar Tissue, and the Chance of Causing More Damage!

Limbo, here is a web link to mentioned procedure;
http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/article...id=1187869 Cycler, might it be easier for many to read these findings you may mention by suppling them with a web link you may have read. I do know, I would like to read them for myself also. Having knowledge on issues and learning, is always a great tool for everyone. Reply's are intended solely for informational purposes. I'll try to dig them up as I go along in the future. I don't have them handy in a bookmark file or such, just general reading and access to things like the Spine Letter.

Cycler, it's all okay with me. If you can supply them or not. I just like to read and so do many others is all. But, in general, it isn't a big deal.
