RE: got a text from niece in Houston
RNvic,,,, Rain,Rain, and more Rain, it is 57 degrees, cloudy damp and dark, but we are ok here, I am high but not dry. LOL The city park down the road from me has been closed sinse early spring and flooded all the way to the entrance. It has never flooded before this year. But has a spring fed lake and it is overflowing.

Hope all others are safe and staying dry.... Tuffy

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass.
It's about learning to dance in the rain.

Got the word that my niece is back at her apartment in Houston, the place where she worked is gone, she is trying to get help from fema, as she has used up all her funds, and her oldest daughter is now sick but all the other kids and the baby are ok, still no power where she lives, there is a bayou by her apartment building and has told her mom that there are lots of snakes about. Keep sending those prayers they are vey much appreciated, I just hope her situation gets better soon also anyone else down that way. Thanks Halftrak

RE: got a text from niece in Houston
How is she coping with snakes being all around. I heard on CNN today when they were interviewing someone who had been rescued this morning, that he was up in the attic, and could have stayed awhile if it were not for all the snakes. Wow..now that would send me straight to the crazy factory. I can't tolerate the presence of a snake of any kind. I was raised around timberwood rattle snakes and they kept me in the house except when I had to go out to do shores. I hope she didn't mean that the snakes were in her apartment. My prayers are going up and will include some protection from the snakes and the illness of her daughter. halftrak, did she decide to stay in Houston to ride this storm out?

Del just told me that we are suppose to have upto 67 miles per hour winds tonight. Sounds like a fun night. Love Red

Halftrac, the local news just stated that CPS said " It coud take up to six weeks to restore full power and gas. I hope she is on the north side of Houston. Port San Antonio is not even considering transporting evacuees back to Huston at this time. In fact they are still taking in more people. I wish her the best.

My Prayers Keep Going Up!
I have a dear friend just North of Houston that was staying to ride out the storm.
I have been unable to get ahold of her either. Probably her cell is dead. I know she was without power shortly after Ike hit land....I worry for these people, she has severe heart problems and cannot take the heat/humidity...her hubby is insulin dependant. No generator!! But there are thousands in this predicament!
The pics of the damage this morning were awful, and simply unbelievable!
Lord, please help ALL those people and creatures !

RE: got a text from niece in Houston
maybe the 2 of you can give me insight on why they didnt leave when they could...Having never went thru one myself I dont understand staying when you know it is fixing to get so bad....I remember Katrina when they made my daughter stay it was hell on earth for her...the heat and the stink of dead and dying plants and animals...she moved as soon as the military let her...I wonder why anyone would want to go thru it....

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile
