Question Released from PT...Not sure what to do
Morning all..... When I first started Aquatic PT 8 weeks ago it was more or less to stop me from getting worse, stiffen up, etc. I had no hope of getting better but my PM Dr. and myself aggreed we needed to something to not get worse. Well when I had my evaluation the first time the girl yanked , pushed andpulled body parts wherever and however w=she chose. I did tell her about it. The 2nd eval went the same way and then I had lots of pain in my shoulder and neck for 2 weeks. I told the PT and she made a note. I went in on Wed. for my eval and was changed to someone else who told me I was worse and that my first measurements were much better than the last. I told her I was stiff from not having PT for 5 days due to the holiday and also that the first girl who did the eval pushed until she got the measurements she wanted. I was realeased anyway. I think I was set up by the first girl. Now my question is what do I do. I can't just sit here and let my whole lower body stiffen up. I can't walk more than 10-15 minutes and my attorney told me it's not a good idea to do anything on my own. Any suggestion??

Cap., I'm Sorry to Hear of Your Recent Developments. Is there a Y.M.C.A. Near You that has a Pool? We have one not too Far from Here and the Fee is not that Expensive. Maybe You could look in that Route! As Always My Best, and My Best to Your Husband as Well!Wink

May sound silly but it works. Lay on a smooth or slick floor, and do snow angels. It does work, and can be fun too.

Jayne..I just love being in the water. so comforting and hurts nothing. Sadly I have no where to put a pool. Suburbs but not rural.

Limbo..Our YMCA is outrageous in comparison to a couple of other facilities. We have a great one that's $75 a month which is too much plus you have to go on a certain 3 days a week and the one I was released from will allow you to do an open swim for $30 a month unlimited 5 days a week. I can't join this until I settle my WC claim as my attorney has told me no PT or workouts that are unsupervised.

sooooooooooo..... It looks like BB 's snow angels are the way to go. I will try them and let you know how I make out. I guess everyday, 20-30????

Still going to try to walk 10-15 minutes even if I have to walk in the house a couple of days a week and pray that it doesn't bring on sciatica as it has in the past.

Snow Angel workout is because you simulate water, yet not in water. The force is off the body, sliding along a smooth surface, just like water being pushed agaisnt the body. If you think of it, it makes sense. I even would say lay a sheet of plastic film down if needed. All your movements are down, laying down with no force. I hope it works, let me know.

Cap
Last Dec I was having physical therapy on my neck. The therapist doing the intake eval did measurments. Two weeks later I again had an eval and by a different therapist and my measurments were worse then the previous eval.

I was released from PT due to lack of progress. The therapist explained to me they can not do therapy with a patient if they show regression. It put their license in jeporady and is considered fraud.

I spoke to my doctor about this and he said when having therapy always have the same therapist do the evals. Each therapist measures differently.

In my eval the first therapist pushed me so hard and that night I went to ER due to the pain I was in. The second therapist doing the eval when measuring only pushed me to the point to when I started hurting then she stopped.

RE: Released from PT...Not sure what to do
Thanks Bummer...Sounds like you had the same two that I had. I am going to call and see who is in charge of this facility and then write a letter. I don't expect any results but will better better myself if i report this. I had an incident at the pharmacy a coupld of weeks ago. He was a fill in but I didn't know that I just thought he was someone part time who I had never met before ( have a great relationship with my pharmacy) He was soooooooo rude and insulting that I left borderline tears which is really odd for me. I was having a horrible day for many reasons and he really pushed too hard. A week later I mentioned this (actually my husband did) and he was told that there were several complaints about this guy and he would never be asked to wrok there again. So I learned a lesson. Stop believing it's me. I really could be right about many incidents and unless I speak up nothing will be solved. i have really changed in this regard since injured. It's one of the reasons my supervisor disliked me so much, He didn't like the fact that I spoke up. He liked women who were seen and not heard. OMG! Can you imagine in this day and age? And I was older than him so it's not that he was an older man. Anyway, thanks for the help. Gonna try BB's snow angels. Can't try a walk today, Hanna is at my backdoor.

I wonder how many people do not receive medical treatment because of problems with physical therapy evals.

In December I really did need more physical therapy but due to two different therapist doing the evals and getting different numbers I was unable to recieve more treatment.
